I watched that happen on 9/11. Was in a conference room looking at the buildings.

Now the sad day when the great Northern Alliance leader was assassinated. He would have been a great ally for us.

He'd trained his folks well. Once he got a few B-52 and other US aircraft strikes in support, helped along by the US Horse Cavalry (actually Special Forces, and later Reservist Civil action types mounted on Afghan ponies.), his forces did very well indeed.
