Alas Couric, I knew her well! Is this the end of tha whilrd newz tanite of ancient lore - where the only three networks produced the same stories as read by three highly coifed (not queeffed) professional news readers? Is this the setting sun of their age of information control? Ms. Couric has a huge salary to come in third place. Even altruistic true-believer socialists who know better than the disdained public understand the bottom line. Is she their last best hope? I don't even know who reads the news for ABC and NBC any longer. This is the most wonderful irony of all - the grinning star going slowly into the hollywood pergatory of obscurity. hahahahahahahahahaha... (not to laugh at Couric's misfortune).

As a person who likes Rush, I don't like the networks more. It isn't like you couldn't hear Rush any other time.

"Why not just admit her stance, goals and agenda?"

Because lying is in the nature of the left. They cannot tell the truth because it unmasks them.

The Soviet Union built a wall.. to keep people in. That's todays RAT party.

WE HAD THIS LAST WEEK!

Couric "Honeymoon" With Viewers Over In One Day! ABC WNT Wins In Major Markets. (Disaster For CBS)
Experience | MB26

Posted on 09/08/2006 11:39:00 AM EDT by MindBender26

The overnight Nielsen Ratings are in, and they are a disaster for Katie Couric.

Couric's CBS Evening News was beaten by ABC WNT in New York, Chicago and other major markets

After all the hype, CBS and the other networks had expected a "honeymoon" lasting for at least a month as viewers sampled Couric's new show. It lasted one night.

Although she eeked out a national ratings win, the big cities have already abandoned her.

In places such as New York, Chicago and Philadelphia, where the big advertising dollars are spent, last night's CBS/Couric ratings free-fall mean one thing; Viewers sampled her Wednesday night, and didn’t like what they saw.

The huge ratings drop would have been understandable had there been a major breaking story, and viewers would have been expected to go to Gibson or Williams for Cronkiteian experience and “gravitas.” But it was a slow news night, a perfect time for Couric's "perky charm" to radiate and attract viewers, but both she and the ratings fell flat.

Bottom line, $15 million a year and months of super-hype.... all for nothing.

Old contacts at CBS I spoke with this AM said everyone is making lunch reservation to eat/drink together.... but at restaurants far from Black Rock or West 57th. Everyone wants a "tribal think" to decide who (other than themselves) is to blame for this disaster, but they are eating in out of the way places in Greenwich Village or the East Side, so they won’t be seen together.

I WILL HAVE AN "INSIDE THE WEEKEND COCKTAIL PARTIES" REPORT FROM CBS INSIDERS LATER TODAY.

As long as they are sticking to the "fake but accurate" strategy, they ought to bring in Michael Moore.

Most of us who wanted to watch Rush were able to find his commentary on the Internet instead of having to tune in to Couric.

Huge drop from Thursday to Friday...

Drop between Tuesday and Wednesday - 23%
Drop between Wednesday and Thursday (Rush Day) - 7%
Drop between Thursday and Friday - 25%

Rush managed to stem the tide for a day, and the program resumed the 20+% slide the next day.

Katie's toast. Now we are going to have to listen to endless whining about how Americans are just too hidebound and parochial to accept a Woman Anchorwoman.

Which is similar to what we will be hearing after the voters soundly reject Hillary! in 2008. To which I say that America is fully ready for a Woman President (or Anchor Woman), but not for that particular Woman.

Katie was touted as the great new hope for news broadcasting.

I have never watched a single alphabet newscast for at least a decade.

Wonder what kind of ratings just having an Aquarium Cam would get in that time slot.

She lost 2.1 points from Tuesday to Wednesday and RUSH helped her slow that Thursday. Without his appearance she would have gone to black by Friday evening...

The viewers were folks who just wanted to see how bad she would be. Once was more than enough.

Eggsactly.... Once everyone saw the circus freak and the same-o liberal pap, it was time to move along.
