I thought the correct title was "Director of Central Intelligence", or DCI?
CID is Criminal Investigation Division, (although it's now the Criminal Investigation Command). The CIA director was then known as Director of Central Intelligence, DCI. George H.W. Bush was DCI the new HQ building is named after him. Tenet was DCI under Clinton. With the new post 9-11 organization, the CIA head is now the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Now there is another level above the CIA, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, headed of course by the DNI
