Just wondering if anyone else saw this...I got this in an email from my pop who is a retired NYC cop...
THIS is a Police Chief
Background: San Francisco Police Officer Nick Birco was killed July 26, 2006 when his police car was struck by a stolen van occupied by suspects who had just comitted an armed robbery and were being pursued by SFPD units. This video was of a press conference given by a member of the SFPD brass. This demonstrates how administrators should act.

Bush and Snow gotta watch this presser

A San Francisco police officer died early Wednesday after a van involved in a chase hit his cruiser, flipping it onto the sidewalk. Officer Nick-Tomasito Birco, 39, arrived at an intersection in the city's Bayview District to assist other officers pursuing a van matching the description of a vehicle used in a robbery at a city bus station, according to San Francisco Police Chief Heather Fong. The officers chased the van down a city street and onto Interstate 280 before it exited the freeway in the southern part of the city where the officer killed was stationed. The van hit his vehicle, causing it to hit a curb and flip on its side. The crash occurred just after 1 a.m. Tomasito Birco received CPR at the scene and was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital where he later died, police said. The officer had been on the force for five years. Four suspects in the van were taken into custody, police said.

Images Of A Solemn Farewell For Slain SF Police Officer An estimated 2,400 people filled the pews at St. Mary's Cathedral and another 600 stood watching the funeral Wednesday of San Francisco police Officer Nick-Tomasito Birco, who was killed in the line of duty one week ago. San Francisco's Roman Catholic Archbishop George H. Niederauer read the homily, telling the mourners that faith in God is the only way to understand life and death. He also said police officers rarely receive the recognition they deserve. "It's a shame that we have to wait for an occasion like this to say thank you," Niederauer said. "This morning we give thanks to Nick Birco. This morning we give thanks to all police officers." Officers representing agencies from as far away as Salinas, Reno and Sacramento stood at attention outside the cathedral before the ceremony began, as a four-story-tall American flag was suspended between two San Francisco Fire Department ladders. Here's images from the solemn ceremony.

Ping
It would be great to have transcript of this.
First thought I had while watching it was - "Wow another Lt. Gen. Russel Honore - "Stuck on Stupid".
Hear, hear!
Bump and ping! Great video!
Actually, he isn't a police chief. He's Gary Delagnes, president of the S.F. Police Officers Association. The chief of the S.F.P.D. is Heather Fong.
The police chief goes after the judges who
gave this criminal bail OVER and OVER and OVER again.
He says the "news" media holds the police accountable for their actions
BUT THAT JUDGES somehow ARE NOT accountable.
He pinpoints the judges and their actions as the cause of this death.
He expresses his disgust for the news media that blames the police for chasing armed robbers
rather than ever mentioning the robbers themselves.
Any of us could have said this, and proibably have here on FR,
but this guy is a public official
and at a public press conference he said he finds the media disgusting
and that he is going after the judges who repeatedly gave this criminal scum bail until he finally killed a policeman.
Fire Heather and put this guy in as Chief IMMEDIATELY!
