That is very true. A dog will not die from a tiny amount of chocolate relative to it's weight. But it's better to be safe. Besides, if the doggie has a weak stomach and plumbing, diahhrea can result.
I hate when that happens.
My very funny story is of a Christmas time when I flew home from work, to change into finer clothes and go the company Holiday party. Someone that day had given me a box of liquor chocolates. I tossed the box on my dining table, still wrapped in cellophane. When we returned home from the party, my little EmmaRose (a 20 lb spaniel) had somehow wrestled the chocolates from the table on to the floor, opened them and consumed them all. I watched her closely because of the chocolate warning, and she was ok. Had some diahhrea, but mostly, she just bounced off walls for about 24 hours while the sugar made it's way thru her system. She was really fun to watch those 24 hrs. I don't think she slept.
:)
Also (I know bad) we have always given our dogs small amounts of chocolate so I suppose they have built up some tolerance.
I had one dog who would not eat any doggie treats or doggie chocolate but would woof down a packet of children's chocolate buttons.
