yes, 50-50 represents some risk to us. but a Dem holding that seat is a certainty to caucus with the Dems, so would you rather have some chance, or none at all?

Laffey has more than "no chance" if you ask me. He's mayor of the third largest city in the state and able to woo both conservative and liberal voters. Right now, he's politically unknown and running 20 points behind in the bluest of the blue states. Freeper icon Katherine Harris is twice as far behind in a "red" state.

I don't want to hear any more garbage that conservatives "can't win" in RI when the governor of Rhode Island himself is a staunch conservative. You guys all like to conviently ignore the highest ranking official in the state with your "conservatives can't win" talking points. Unfortunately the RAT party doesn't fall for this crap as the GOP and nominate a backstabbing DINOs in states like North Dakota so they can "win". Instead they take the risk of running liberals in conservative states and win on "I'm for North Dakota first" touchy-feely messages.

If Chafee's voting record is acceptable to you, then you'd happily vote for Hillary Clinton if she kept the same communist idelogy but put an "R" next to her name. You'd take her as long as she gave token "support" to the GOP, I wouldn't

We win nothing with Chafee. We might have "control" on a superficial level but as long as he votes CONSISTANTLY with the Democrats (12% conservative rating last year, a voting "record" further LEFT than Russ Feingold and Carl Levin), nothing will pass the Senate floor.
