What Happened During the 9-11 Prayer at Notre Dame Game?
Vanity/Question | Burr5

Posted on 09/09/2006 12:51:12 PM PDT by Burr5

Did anyone else notice what just happened at the Notre Dame/Penn State game in South Bend?

As the university pastor attempted to deliver a prayer in rememberance of the 9-11 victims to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the event, it seemed hundreds of people went ape-s%*t, barking, booing, and making a generally obnoxious racket. One thug could even be heard to shout "you suck" as the priest finished up.

This was NOT three or four morons, and they were not quickly silenced. Anyone from S.B. know what the hell this was all about? An anti-war demonstration? I have no idea, but I work in South Bend, and there aren't a lot of potential muslim radicals around. Just a preponderance of Poles. Can't say if it was Irish Fans or Nittany Lions fans, but I can't believe it would be either.

Baffling.

Most "Catholic" universities have not been Catholic for a number of years. DePaul, with its gay & Lesbian Studies minor, is the most non-Catholic. Like I said earlier, "Catholic" colleges and universities, with a few exceptions, are a waste of money.

You might send an e-mail to Michael Novak. He covers Notre Dame football for the National Review Online. Novak has his own website. To contact him go to

We have no respect in this country for anything.

One of the most evil and malignant influences of the Left is the death of the sacred. When is the last time anyone heard any behavior, no matter how degrading, and degenerate, called a "sacrilege?"

This is by design of course, as the left wing seeks to hollow out the humanity of the race by killing the spirit and prepare the community to become a hive, or maybe an ant-hill.

There once was an expression of exasperation: "Is nothing sacred?" The answer in post-clintonoid post-liberal 2006 is, "no."

We're taping the game. I'll have to check it out. I don't think this would've happened at Beaver Stadium.

I think I know a little more about this than you....while you are right that there are some loonies there, it is still very, very Catholic. 85% of the student body remains Catholic and many of the profs are too. This is not like a Jesuit university despite some of the lefty things that go on there.

Try this crap at a NASCAR race and watch how fast you'll get your ass kicked. These sleazy, snot-nosed, rich college brats don't know how good they have it in this country.

I heard it but couldn't make out any words. It sounded like a bunch of people shouting.

What kind of person can't keep quiet during a prayer?

You are not nuts. We heard it here too and I was VERY upset. They scanned the crowd with the camera as he was praying and I was looking for the offenders. It was like there was a hot mike on the entire crowd and they were like a bunch of preschoolers that can't keep quite.
Any his was a politically correct prayer too. You know, world peace, tolerance of all religions and all of that.

LOL!

I knew I could count on the NASCAR contingent to cheer me up about America.

I still just didn't think I'd hear a large group of psychos do such a thing at a football game between two colleges I's assumed to be reasonably conservative. N.D. is no Berkely, and all I know about P.S. is that Paterno is a Conservative Republican in good standing.

Most football coaches are relatively conservative, very few moonbats there......

Doesn't mean the student body is though.......

Notre Dame is a mixed bag. Its former president led the movement of Catholic Colleges out of the discipline of the Church at the infamous Land O' Lakes Conference. Its theology department includes Fr. McBrien, the worst heretic in America still claiming to be a Catholic theologian. There are many others of the same ilk.

They have supported stuff like the Vagina Monologues on campus. The new president seems to be following in Hesburgh's footsteps, after pretending otherwise for a while.

But there are also still some very fine, orthodox faculty and many very pious students. I'm not sure I would send someone there who was shaky in his faith, but it could still be a good place for a strong, confident young Catholic.

This is unlike places like Georgetown or BC, where there seems to be hardly any real Catholicism left at all.

Liberal lunatics have no sense of decency. And that includes the entire Democrat Party. Democrats' opinions are generally deliberate lies designed to undermine capitalism, freedom, and the United States. The Soviet Communist Party used the same approach.

That would be my sentiment...if burning a flag is "speech"...
you'd think that opening a can of Whoop-@$$ should pass constitutional muster.

BUT...I'm afraid the police wouldn't agree.

Might I just suggest jamming a couple of $20 bills into the jerk's
pocket, tell him/her "There's your refund for admission; come along
peacefully and this crowd might not beat you to an unrecognizable pulp"...
then bodily carry the @$$hole out past the gate.

Passing the jerk overhead if need be with a chant "Pass the ACLU member!".
