HOUSTON -- Houston-area Islamic groups joined a nationwide campaign to denounce terrorism, Local 2 reported Friday.
The public service announcements hit the airwaves Thursday. The campaign is called "Not in the Name of Islam."
CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, released it to build understanding.
"Muslims are not only victims of the terrorists attacks but also have to deal with the stigmatization of being blamed for the heinous crimes of a minuscule minority." Said Rodwan Saleh, with the Islamic Society of Greater Houston.
Houston's Islamic leaders joined together to applaud a religious ruling against terrorism and religious extremism.
"We want to let all of Houston citizens know that we stand behind peace and justice and we are absolutely against any terrorism or any terrorism actions in this city." Saleh said.
Nearly 1 million people around the country have signed a petition supporting American Muslims.
"The terrorists actions are not in the name of Islam and Muslims do not want their religion seized by criminals, said Kaleem Siddiqui, with CAIR Houston. "They commit these acts cowardly and they call themselves Muslims. We absolutely condemn that and oppose it."
Houston was recently rated the No. 1 city in the country by the Vera Institute for police having good relationships with the Arabic and Muslim community.

Good.
Surely this means that the Houston PD has opened up a can of Whoop-@$$ on
trouble-making Islamics and let them know they are in The Nation of Texas.
And shall behave.
Or else.
That's about the only explanation I can think of as Islamics only
bow to someone who (after being forced to) exerts sufficient force
to make them imitate human beings.

Where were they September 12, 2001? I might believe them if they had started protesting and marching right after 9/11. Now I think its just a grab to get media attention.

5 years too late ......imagine they marched on September 12th 2001.I live in queens new york ,and on 9/11 a friend of mine later told me there was dancing in the streets as the towers burned.I went to 1 of the many funerals for co=workers and friends, this particular wake was for firefighter Raymond York,my wife went into a bodega across from the funeral home and the "moose-limb" behind the counter was spewing anti American rants,my wife walked out of the bodega and told the police officer (who was directing traffic) about the store owner ,the cop said"I know miss, he's been saying it all day ,there is nothing I can do he's hiding behind freedom of speech".these bastards at the time thought they won and were real cocky..sorry for the run-on sentence I'd just sick of these people

It has been missed because our lamestream media isn't interested. It does nothing to further that hate of Bush nor does it help the People's Demokratik Party regain power.
If anything, Muslims standing against terror would help Bush.
Therefore, not worthy of reporting.

To: Petey139
Just a gut feeling says Houston will be the next biggie! Plenty of refinery targets, would be a drastic attack on our economy, if we had to ration petrol.
Is this CAIR trying their hand at pre-spin, because they know Texans wont put up with this peacefully!
