I don't know about that. Doesn't it concern all of us if a woman in a combat zone is kidnapped? It's the American people who have decided it's OK to put women in this situation. I am not comfortable with intentionally placing women in harms way. If she left of her own will it's a matter for the JAG not the public.

Did the kidnappers shave her hair to shame her for being a woman without a hardscarf? Or did they shave her head to disguise her appearance so they could smuggle her out of the country for prostitution?

I agree, these are very valid questions and the answer could be yes, to either one or both.

How quickly we forget, eh? But then, she was pretty forgettable.

Missing person later found unharmed?

No, Air Force officials say she was found alone and appears to have been beaten.

It would only concern me if she had her issue with her and couldn't take some of them out.

If she left them stinking up the farmhouse thirty miles out of town, then I think that is what we pay her for.

Come to think if it, we also pay her to survive too, so I'm still OK with it.

I think we do need to correct something you seem to misunderstand. She wasn't drafted, so We didn't put her in harms way unless she wanted to be there.

Sounds to me that she was kidnapped and was going to be smuggled out of the country but once the news of who she was and that the US Military was looking for her they (her kidnappers) dumped her some place.

That's what I was thinking. They probably got wind of some of our RSBD's(Really Scary Bad Dudes) coming to look for her.

To be a major at 30, you need to pin on after 8 years. Since someone promoted below the zone is normally last in line to pin on, that means getting picked up for major 3 years after making captain.

That would be rare.

Since she is 33, it means she made major at about the 11 year mark...about normal.

NO I didn't misunderstand. Whether someone volunteers or not doesn't change the fact that it is not that person who decides acceptable military procedure. Ultimately it's the body politic who determines that. There are always those who will accept duty they aren't suited for.

Well I don't think I have ever read so many ignorant and vicious statements directed at a serving American officer in my time in this forum.

Majors don't go AWOL PERIOD

They don't have to, they are high enough in the rank structure to take of whatever problems they might have without The type of permission lieutenants need.

Secondly this was a superb example of an American female warrior capable of outrunning for at least twenty six miles almost any of the chair bound warriors slumped over their keyboards on this thread.

Now let's review the facts as presented to us on her condition, she was barefoot, her head was shaved and her hair dyed, her hands and feet were bloodied from cuts other injuries and she appears to have been beaten. And she was disorientated when found.

Now can someone explain to me how that sounds like she ran away while on a shopping trip with other officers she knew would immediately alert the proper authorities the second they realized she had disappeared?

To me it sounds like she was lured away from her group or got lost, snatched by a sex slave team, drugged, her appearance altered, left alone by whoever took her when the heat was put on, escaped confinement and ran for her life, and stumbled up to a police station.

sssschheeeshhh If I were a mod I'd erase this thread just to hide the stupidity shown on it.

The story says she was married before being deployed in April...that's more than a couple weeks ago.
