For once, just once I'd like to read of an elected state official telling a federal thug to kiss his a$$.
Some of Wyoming's sheriffs have. They are pretty unique in that they retain the same broad powers they had in frontier days.
Most the other rural states have set aside their sheriffs' real power and it is now vested in the county attorneys. Really really sucks.
More rural states need to grow a pair and follow Wyoming's lead on this stuff.

I believe it is unlawful for federal officials to lobby the states.
I cannot ever remember anyone being prosecuted, however.
