Student Newspaper Lampoons Mother of God
TFP Student Action ^ | 09-08-06 | TFP

If someone attacked your mother, would you be upset? Would you protest? I’m sure you would.

Well, the Mother of God is grossly insulted by the University of Virginia’s student newspaper, The Cavalier Daily, which printed a Nativity-like cartoon of Our Lady holding the Infant Jesus beside Saint Joseph on August 24.

The figure depicting Saint Joseph says: "Mary…I don't mean to ruin this special moment, but how did you get that bumpy rash?” suggesting a sexually transmitted disease. To which a Mary-figure says, “I swear, it was Immaculately Transmitted.”

This is outrageous public blasphemy! Click here to protest now.

Whoa. I had to re-read your screenname a couple of times to ensure it didn't say "nosepipe". You're on some wicked stuff...

[ How is it you can believe stuff and interject on a thread like this to tell others they need to "re-think" things, and yet you remain free of the taint of "dogma"? ]

It wasn't easy..

[ Now you deny your own humanity? ]

True... I am a different creature.. according to scripture.. Argueing with scripture is foolish..

[ Another fine argument for the notion that all people should read Scripture and reach their own conclusions free of any influence by tradition or history. ]

"The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.."..
The Rabbi's murdered Jesus according to scripture and tradition..
The Holy Spirit can and does teach scripture..

"The Holy Spirit is right here with me.. as always.. Humility is a wise choice.."

Speaking of humility, I wouldn't assume too much if I were you.

O.K. just a reference to scripture.. "the comforter(paraclete/Holy Spirit) is with me always"..
Thing is, he is with you also, watching and probably recording..

I concede his body has a mother.. but Jesus is NOT human....

Protestants and Catholics both would consider that a heresy. It was one of the errors addressed by the Nicean Creed. "Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man;" See also the Anathemas of the Second Constantinople Council (553).

If your church is teaching that Christ was not wholly God and wholly man, you probably belong to a cult, and should try a Bible based faith.

It's pretty ridiculous to say that God has a mother when he has lived from eons past. Jesus is the Word that was in the beginning. Many thousands of years later, Mary was born. She was only the mother of the earthly incarnation, the Adamic body of Jesus, which died forever, plus several other kids afterwards (see the Gospels).

I am a member of a cult with one member..
Wholly god and wholly man is a good question...
What is man but a spirit riding a Donkey(body)?..
Same with Jesus.. a Spirit riding a donkey..

The Donkey is one thing and Spirit is another.. Same is true for Jesus AND Us.. When a Donkey(body) dies the spirit goes somewhere else.. It is quite easy for God to make another conduit(body) for the spirit to inhabit.. That is if a conduit(body of some sort) is needed at all.. it is possible that a conduit is not even needed, except here on this planet..

The Universe is a big place.. a body would be a pain in the keyster..

"What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, is what God has prepared for those who love him." 1Cor 2;9

"No, but if you deny Mary's title as "Mother of God," you deny Jesus' divinity, since He's fully God and full human, since the Incarnation."

But not Adamic. He resurrected with a body of flesh and bones, but not blood. His mortal body, born of Mary with Adam's bloodline in it, was gone forever. In its place was a new, heavenly body. People (Mary Kagdelene and the guys on the road to Emmaus) didn't even recognize Him.

the Adamic body of Jesus, which died forever

I thought they found the Tomb empty. That's kind of the point.

Are you actually saying that Jesus "died forever"? If that is the case, what then was the Resurrection and Assension?

Also, please provide any evidence you have of ANY person other than our Lord who is called a son or daughter of Mary. (And don't even start with "brother of" because that was a term used very loosely in Biblical times.)

For that matter I thought the Disciples witnessed the Ascension.

"There's no ancient heresy under the sun that doesn't exist in some sect of modern-day protestantism."

I don't know - they don't have pagan prayer beads (non-scriptural)or call their leader "Holy Father" (blasphemy) or put the word of man on a level with The Word of God (heresy).

"The vast majority of Christians have agreed on the "Mother of God" issue since AD 431."

The vast majority of Catholics only have agreed on the "Mother of God" issue since AD 431.

I never cease to be amazed at the odd things some people believe the Holy Spirit teaches them.

And Jesus punctured his brand new body just for show (see doubting Thomas narrative)?

That's news to the world's Orthodox, Lutherans, and Anglicans.

What other ignorance can you bring to the thread?

"And Jesus punctured his brand new body just for show (see doubting Thomas narrative)?"

Jesus rose from the grave with a heavenly, non Adamic body, with no blood. His Adamic blood was shed in place of yours and mine.

His wounds will testify forever that he took our punishment on Himself.
