Afghanistan...welcome to terrorism Iraqi/Al Qaeda style...and the hits just keep coming. This has been a concern of mine for quite some time. The fact that we sent 11,000 troops to Afghanistan and 180,000 to Iraq bothers me.
There are more cops in NYC than were ever U.S. troops in Afghanistan. We should have had a minimum of 25,000 boots on the ground and continued the air campaign a few more months as well...just bombing the hell out of the mountains to the north.
NATO and the UN better have a strong stomach.

Has anybody besides me noticed how many times Democrats have mentioned Afghanistan in the last 24 hours?

Of course...with the recent stories on CNN about how the Taliban is alive and well and now IED attacks on the rise...they are salivating for Iraq Part II...it fits in with their arguments that Rumsfeld did not send enough troops to Afghanistan...and Howlin..I hate Liberals more than anything...but on that issue...they are right.
I support the Iraq war and will continue to do so no matter how ungrateful half the country over there and here is about the presence of the U.S. , but...there should have been a much bigger presence of troops along the Pakistan/Afghanistan border trapping and surrounding the Taliban and Al Qaeda like bugs and it should have happened the day after 9-11...not 6-7 weeks.

Two coalition soldiers killed in Kabul bomb blast
***********************************
08/09/2006 - 07:57:03
A massive explosion today near the US Embassy in the Afghan capital tore apart a military vehicle and killed at least three people, including two US-led coalition soldiers.
Ali Shah Paktiawal, criminal director of Kabul police, said the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber.
The explosion blew a military vehicle into two burning chunks and scattering debris and body parts over a 50-yard radius.
US soldiers and heavily-armed American security forces cordoned off the scene.

More troops and equipment would have been available if clinton hadn't cut the military down to the bare bones.
We'd already waited 8 months messing with the UN, we couldn't wait any longer.
