Clay Aiken is in line to be named to the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, the White House said Wednesday.
Aiken, a Raleigh native who gained fame as a runner-up on "American Idol," once worked as a YMCA counselor.
The committee's Web site said it advises the president on issues pertaining to people with intellectual disabilities. The committee was established in 1961 by President John Kennedy as the President's Panel on Mental Retardation.
A White House press release said President Bush intends to make the appointment. Officials did not say when.
The singer's new album, "A Thousand Different Ways," is due out later this month.

And exactly what does that have to do with him being appointed to the Committee? Let's put it this way...for most gay guys "bush" is usually off of the menu.

I am tickled to death! He is from Cary, NC, and was a special education teacher before American Idol. No. He's from Raleigh and he only graduated after he being on AI.

Cary is a suburb of Raleigh and for some reason I thought he was from there. I stand corrected. Maybe he was a Teacher's Assistant. Until recently, you did not even need an AA degree to be a TA. I saw him on Oprah a few weeks ago talking to twin girls who, in spite of early learning disabilities, had graduated at the top of their class. He mentioned then that he had worked with Special Education kids. I heard on the radio today that he had worked at the YMCA so maybe that was where he worked with kids with learning disabilities. I know that he majored in Special Ed. and he has a foundation dedicated to helping children with learning disabilities so he definitely has an interest in this area.

That naked torso is definately not Clay's. Clay wishes he had a body like that! Clay's thin and scrawny - and does not have man-boobs!

Diana DeGarmo did a great job of singing God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch during last nights dodgers-mets game. Go Diana!!!
