Well, I don't think I'd go quite so far as this Greer person, but at the same rate, I could hardly say Irwin's death was anything less than fully expected.

Of course, it was the MANNER of death which most people found unexpected. However, I'm of the notion that he had cheated the Angel of Death so many times, he was long overdue. If it hadn't been the unlikely encounter with the stingray, it was probably going to be decapitation by paper-cut, or some other strangely juxtaposed manner of death.

Local radio host compared him to Tim Tredwell, the guy who was eaten by a bear - and Tim *was* a total lunatic.
