I thoroughly agree that the SpCt screwed up royally in the Hamdan decision. However, they did one thing right. They said that Congress had the power to pass laws defining US conduct in the area of enemy detentions and military tribunals.

Therefore, as this thread has noted, President Bush has put the Democrats over a national security barrel by throwing both issues into the lap of Congress, and challenging the House and Senate to act. Most likely, as with immigration, the House WILL act, and the Senate will STALL, "led" by the Democrats who want to be President.

Hillary Clinton is going to cut her own political throat, in public, metaphysically speaking. Either she will vote for detention of terrorist suspects and military tribunals (cutting her throat with her essential, hard-left supporters). Or, she'll vote the other way (cutting her throat with most of the American electorate). Either way, she's dead meat.
