CAIRO (AFP) - The Arab League has called on the United Nations Security Council to find a new mechanism to relaunch the Middle East peace process, at the opening of a meeting of foreign ministers in Cairo.
Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed al-Khalifa said the League would call on the Security Council "to review the peace process... and to find a new and effective mechanism to activate it, based on Security Council decisions and the Arab peace initiative."
The 2002 Arab initiative proposed a full normalization of relations with Israel in the exchange for the return of all land occupied by the Jewish state in 1967.
The UAE Minister of State for foreign affairs and president of the last session Mohammed Hussain al-Shaali also called for a timeframe for the relaunch of the peace process.
"We call on the Security Council to relaunch the peace process... and to define a precise and effective mechanism in order to quickly revive the negotiations and to define a time frame and to secure international guarantees (for the process)," he told attendants at the opening session before heading for the closed meetings.
An Arab diplomat attending the talks told AFP that the League's peace committee had agreed on a unanimous position which it would put to the Security Council, without giving further details.
SSDD.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
They could have peace tomorrow if they allowed residents of "Palestine" to buy land in their countries...
Gee, and "land for peace" worked so well in Lebanon and the West Bank.
The UN would eff up a two car funeral.
Arab League = the only organization more useless than the UN.
Ishaq:208 When Allah gave permission to his Apostle to fight, the second Aqaba contained conditions involving war which were not in the first act of submission. Now we bound themselves to war against all mankind for Allah and His Apostle. He promised us a reward in Paradise for faithful service. We pledged ourselves to war in complete obedience to Muhammad no matter how evil the circumstances.
Any concession to these Islamic murderers is a step closer to that goal. The UN of course, is only all too willing to help Islam achieve that goal, as we see in North Africa.
Q. How can you mention the 2002 Arab League peace initiative without mentioning the demand for the right of return for all refugees and their descendants?
A. If you want to bias your wrting towards propagandizing for Arab oil princes who want to see Israel eliminated, because you yourself want Israel eliminated, it's not that much of a trouble.
The ME was irrelevant after Columbus discovered the New World. Then it was relevant because of the oil, which is Henry Ford's fault. As soon as the oil is irrelevant once more, the ME can be irrelevant again.
Syria and Jordan should give the land to the Palestinians since both countries were given parts of "Palenstine" as part of the same mandate that created Israel.
Arab League: Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Translation: Arab League says Mideast "peace" will happen by them only when there is no more Israel, and no more Jews or Christians from Morocco to Indonesia (except a few token dhimmis for show to make Kofi happy).
Conclusion: The Arab League wants a true peace the same way a cat wants to be declawed.
Bin Khalifa must be the Ayatollah of All Crapola!
