What did you expect? Each time he invokes the WOT and 9-11 he highlights the weaknesses of the left. The networks can't have any of that.
That makes me want even MORE for it to be the "BIG" announcement (OBL)!!!! I'd love it if, given fair warning, they were caught napping.
Our security depends on getting intelligence. To win the war on terror we must be able to detain and question terrorists.
Working with our allies we've captured thousands of terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq and elsewhere. These are enemy combattants who are waging war on our nation. We have an obligation to the American people to detain these enemies and stop them from waging war.
They are generally questioned by our military personel and if we determine they don't pose a continuing threat or have intel value, we turn them over to the local law enforcement.
In some cases we determine people pose a significant threat or have intelligence we need to prevent new attacks. Many are AQ operatives or Taliban and withhold info that oculd save American lives. In those cases, we've moved them to an environment where they can be questioned secretly.
Some individuals are taken to Guantanamo. The people held at Guantanamo aren't common criminals or innocent bystanders. We have a process in place tomake sure that peole who are there belong there.
People include bomb makers, etc. They are in our custody so they can't murder our people.
One detainee said "I'll never forget your face and I'll kill you and your brother, mother and sisters."
In addition, small numbers of operatives have been held and questioned outside the US in a separate program operated by the CIA. This group includes people who are key architects in the 9/11 and USS Cole and Embassy bombings.
These are dangerous men with knowledge about new attacks. Security of our nation and people depends on abilitgy to learn what they know.
Specifics of the program and where they've been held can't be divulged. Doing so would enable terrorists to take retribution against our allies.
Info found from these terrorists have saved lives here in the US and across the world.
Examples of how program has saved lives and should be supported by the Congress:
Within months of 9/11 we captured Abu Zabata. We believe he was senior terrorist leader and trusted assoc. of OBL.
Our intel community thinks he ran terrorist camp in Afghanistan and helped smuggle terrorists out of that country after our forces arrived there. Zabata was severely wounded in firefight and he survived only because of medical care arranged by CIA.
After he recovered he was defiant. He declared his hatred of America. He disclosed nominal information then stopped cooperating. The nominal info he gave wasimportant. He gave us info on KSM - mastermind behind 9/11 attacks.
This was vital info which helped intel community find KSM. He also disclosed a terrorist attack being planned on the US whih previously we didn't know about.
The operatives were detained based on info he gave us.
We knew Zabata had more info which could save innocent lives but he stopped talking again. As his questioning proceeded, it became clear he had received training on how to resist questioning.g
So the CIA used different tactics and they were used in relation to our laws, Justice reviewed the procedures extensively and determined they were lawful.
I can't tell you waht it entailed because it would help the terrorists but the procedures were tough but safe and lawful and necessary.
Zabata was questioned using thse procedures and thne with info he gave we found more operatives from 9/11.
One was an accomplish in 9/11 named Ramzi Ben Alshiebi.
We then captured Alshiebi and he gave info to letting us capture Mohammed.
KSM told us about another operative in custody. K SM told us Kahn had been told to deliver $50,000 for someone named ?.
The CIA officers confronted Khan with this information. (I can't keep up)
