Understanding Katherine Harris, why she is the good choice, why she deserves our support !
9-6-06 | Marc Costanzo

Posted on 09/06/2006 1:44:47 AM PDT by marc costanzo

To all Freepers and all Florida Voters, I issue my thoughts and feelings about this Florida Primary, a campaign of which I myself have no vote in ! ---------------------------------------------------------

Congresswoman Katherine Harris has waged a long hard run for the GOP nomination for the seat of U.S. Senator from Florida, now occupied by incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson .

As many of you on this forum know, Katherine lost her dear beloved father George Harris earliar this year . The loss of a father takes an emotional toll, even in the advanced years of one's life .

I would say to the detractor's of Harris, especially those who have claimed extreme difficulty in working around her in the last few months, , , please take into account all that has happend and all that has thrown in front of her goal for higher office, a goal she has turned down more than once for the sake of party loyalty - - a loyalty that has not been reciprocated by the RNC leadership - -

Rep Katherine Harris is human, like us all, and like all of us, she makes mistakes, we can be difficult to work with, intemperate, short with others .

For all good conservatives and all good people in Florida, let us not fall down the DemonCrat path of petty spite over past slights ~ lets us all join together to fight the good fight, win or lose - -

let us act honorably and decently,

Do not let what the Libs and Lefties have done to so many of us decent Americans corrupt us into their way of thinking and doing ~ let us prove we are the Good People, The Crats are The Bad .

Man, are you wrong. She has zero chance of beating Nelson. The Republican party told her she had no chance. She is a bull-headed spoiled brat. Believe me, it is a family trait. I will vote for her, but her career deserves to be OVER after this race. She can go stand next to Dan Quayle. She is a net negative for the party. She has no talent. She has trouble with accepting bad news. And she doesn't appear to be able to tell truth from fantasy. Yuck!

Are you a real Florida Conservative? WOW!!!

I wonder if are you a real FReeper, or are you just a mole from DU??

Who are you going to vote for, loser???

As an aside, though, I suspect that Nelson will be high on the Dem list for the VP nomination. They need Florida, and Nelson would likely deliver it.

I would like to see that!

He would then help to sink the democRATic party like Titanic!!

Another "sore loserman", LOL!!!

I don't care what the MSM says, I want to know why she was constantly losing staff members during the campaign. One or two staff members quit, I can understand, personality conflict or the like. Regular turnover of staff members during a campaign and the problem is not with the staff members, it's with the candidate, IMHO.

Rep. Harris does well at women's clubs. That seems to be the total extent of her support and they constitute an echo chamber for her. Their voices seem to be the only ones she can listen too. I will vote for her, but I am a party line voter. If people like me were a majority, perhaps she could be elected. But I don't admire her, even a little.

All your rantings are nothing but a loser's mentality, or should we call it envy, also???

I'm sure glad that you are NOT among the leadership of our beloved Miami Heat, Florida Marlins or for the Miami Dolphins!!!

Me to. I also voted for her and will stand by her. I will pray to our Lord that although she has a tough battle ahead of her, she can defeat the good-for-nothing, fox in sheeps clothing, Bill Nelson.

He already said he was going to vote for her. Some of the Harris defenders on this forum appear to be as crazy as she is, and in complete denial of reality. You're building up such fanaticism that your heads are going to explode when she loses in November.

"Why is she a net negative for the party?"

She's not getting support from the Bush crowd because she is not a globalist.

They don't want anyone in the Senate or White House anymore who does not support the globalist view.

You sound exactly like the democRATic "cry-babies"!

Stop wining and moaning like them!!

She won this primary and that's what count.Get of your "soap" and help us unseat the "ass-naut" cadet by sending him out of DC and into "space" for good!!! OK???

Please read my first post on the subject (post #2.)

I said I'd support her, but she also has a responsibility to her supporters to get her act together as far as staffing problems and turnovers.

If she has any chance at all of winning, things will have to go a lot smoother during this phase of the campaign than they did during the last.

She's not just playing to the "home" crowd anymore.

He didn't say that in his post #17, except whining and moaning like a democRATic "cry-baby!

"Now we have more important thing to do, and that is to send the "ass-naut" cadet out of DC and into "space" for good!!

My wish for you is that I hope you have the same spirited conservative grass-root movement in NJ as we have here in Florida!!!

Harris has been savaged by the MSM like no other person, and she was from the very start. A lot of staffers have been unable to take this daily -- even hourly -- pounding. But Harris can and does take it.

Harris is the one candidate the liberals at all the Florida papers feel they CANNOT allow to succeed. She is the enemy of enemies for them. Not only did she help open the White House gates for Bush, but she's UNCOOL and she WEARS MAKEUP.

Harris' getting elected would drive the Florida media (at the very least) into a suicidal frenzy.

That alone is reason to vote for her.

If that's not enough, remember how she weathered the storm and stood by her principles in 2000.

She won, and I'm happy we can count on your vote, so please stop whining an moaning like a democRATic "cry-baby"! The most important thing - NOW, again NOW - is to have a positive outlook and helping her with all our mights to send the "ass-naut" cadet b.n. (the Florida insurance scammer!!!) out of DC and into "space" for good!!

Everything else about her looks, her cosmetics, her boobs, her horses, her behavior are totally irrelevant!!!OK???

And she sure saved us from having the Gore-man stealing his way into the White-House, where he could be the renter today (scary thoughts) if K.H. had NOT had the "cajoles" to stop him!!!

BTW........

A must read book, scary stuff!!!

I just don't agree that one's behavior is irrelevant in a campaign. This is politics after all. Why give the media ammunition? If she wants to run a successful campaign those things are not irrelevant, because the folks she'll need to vote for her won't be people like you and me (who will vote for her anyway), but people that do listen to the MSM.

"Man, are you wrong. She has zero chance of beating Nelson. The Republican party told her she had no chance."

And the other Republican Party candidates who were - apparently - too incompetant to beat Katherine Harris in the primaries had watch chance, exactly, of beating Nelson?

Kinda hard to have a "good chance" of beating Nelson when you can't even beat out a woman despised by her own party, isn't it?

He is articulate, bright, and funny. Just because the MSM made a big deal out of the spelling of the word potato doesn't make him "out of his league." What incredibly stupid things did he say?

Anyone who saw the debate he had with Benson would come away knowing he was out of his league. But heck, he was like 39 or 40 years old. I had never even heard of him when Bush selected him, and I followed politics closely. I think that he is bright and articulate, but he can not handle pressure. He cracks. Google "Dan Quayle Quotes." Many of the stupid thing he said have been dishonestly attributed Bush. Bush almost never says stupid things. He is very careful and very savvy. He mangles words, but the idea is almost never silly.

Some of my favorite Quayle quotes (and this just illustrates how he freaks out when he is under pressure):
The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. I mean in this century's history. But we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century.

Mars is essentially in the same orbit... Mars is somewhat the same distance from the Sun, which is very important. We have seen pictures where there are canals, we believe, and water. If there is water, that means there is oxygen. If oxygen, that means we can breathe.

I attribute the dozens (hundreds?) of these things he said not to stupidity, but to panic. He always got a deer-in-the-headlight look when it was something important. Harris is a lightweight too.

It doesn't cost any more to be nice.

Perhaps you could just write down a list of thoughts that I am allowed to express and I will grant it due consideration. And, by the way, I have been around here a lot longer than you have. Also, I know Katherine Harris and I know her familiy and have known them for a quarter century. I also know a lot about the Florida Republican party and what many of the leaders in the party think. They have not exactly made it a secret.

And, if you had bothered to read my post, I told you who I would vote for.

Please. Let's try to be a little nicer around here.
