You asked for reasons why she wont win. I will give you a list if you are capable of reading.

(1) She is prone to making major campaign gaffees. Instead of talking about the importance of supporting candidates of faith, she panders to the Christians and makes extreme statements that she knows will be spun by the media.

One man's gaffe is another man's close-held principal. I'm a flaming rationalist (read atheist) and I'm voting for her.

(2) She wont listen to her campaign managers and can't keep her campaign staff in place long enough to make progress before they learn that she is impossible to deal with and quit.

Or, maybe she just intends to run an honest campaign. I suspect campaign pros don't have much experience in dealing with a forthright candidate. Boo-hoo.

(3) For someone who has won statewide office twice, it's incredible that she is starting from a point in the polls 30 points behind a weak Democrat opponent.

Did you say Polls? In Florida? Hey, remember All the elections since 2000's fabulously accurate polls? Jeez...

(4) When she last ran for congress she only won 55% of the vote in a conservative district.

So? She won, didn't she?

(5) Recent polling indicates she turns off independents and more than a third of Republicans "dislike" her. This is not a case of several good candidates running and this one won, you either like Harris or you dont. She peaked with her 50% of Republican primary voters.

Yeah, tell that to the Admiral. I'm sure it'll make him feel better . . .

(6) She was begged by both GW and Jeb Bush not to run...I do believe these guys know more about politics than your or I.

Oh, well then. My bad. Does the word Ingrate mean anything to you? It does to me . . .

(7) Given that campaign funds are tight this year, the RNC and the Senate Campaign Committee are not going to waste limited campaign funds on Harris. The GOP has many incumbents who are vulnerable this year and there are several states where a strong Republican candidate has a chance against their DEM opponent. FLorida is not one of those and Harris will have to raise her own funds. This might actually help her as every minute spent on the phone begging for cash is one less minute where she will be turning off voters. Need more? Harris may make Alan Keyes look like an effecive campaigner.

Campaign funds are tight? Maybe if we quit wasting our money sending it to the party to blow somewhere else and used it here it might actually do some good, eg. elect another conservative senator.

I never thought I'd see the day. FR is not what it used to be.

There is a deliberate shift left on the part of many in the GOP party leadership to capture the every elusive "swing votes". Which means democrats without the commitment. Like Arnie in CA, it means that RINO are more acceptable.

You obviously haven't been following Harris long.

Her campaign has a, shall we say, troublesome relationship with the truth.

Working hard for Arnold...if he loses we just as well drop off into the water as a State...could be worse than Davis...imagine such a thing. Pulling hard to Harris...have friends in FL and urging them to work for her.

I would STRONGLY suggest the Harris employees and volunteers, (those that are still left), look at the Graham vs. Paula Hawkins.

1986 Race for U.S. Senate
Bob Graham (D), 55%
Paula Hawkins (R) (inc.), 45%

This was a conservative woman who lost to an institutional candidate whose popularity crossed heavily into the squishy middle.

She better get "laura croft" on him or she is going to be back to being an unemployed rich harvard grad.

Think she will do better than Brett Schundler did in NJ? (42-58)

"But you forget, these are conservatives who are bad mouthing her. Just imagine what you are going to hear from the independents and Dems?"

Are you sure they are Conservatives and not Libertarians?

Near as I can tell, Libertarians are liberals that like guns but don't like taxes.

The 10 Commandments really have nothing to do with the bill of rights, at all.

1st amendment - Freedom of the press, speech, and religion. Nothing Biblical about that.
2nd - Guns for everyone.
3rd - Nothing to do with religion
4th - Protection from government oppression. Nothing Christian hiding in here.
5th - This amendment is actually protecting AGAINST Christianity. Specifically using such gentle ways of coercion like piling stones upon someone's chest. Mainly to stop people from being forced to confess to a crime.
6th - Trial by jury.
7th - Civil trials being tried in front of a jury when the value in question is more than $20. I think i saw that in the Bible actually.
8th - Cruel and Unusual punishment. How nice that the government needed to talk to a pastor to find out that torturing people is wrong.
9th - You have more rights than listed above. Not biblical.
10th - Federalist government.

It's not logical. It comes from the "knock Harris" syndrome that is so pervasive on Free Republic. I believe the moonbats are all in flight on this one. Republicans in Florida must get it together and unite behind their Republican candidate, Harris or quit bliovating on how bad the US Senate is in representing conservatives.

We can always count on the Peoples Republic of Maryland
to bash a conservative candidate with the typical liberal
name-calling tactics. Thanks for keeping up the tradition.

Particularly for those of you who swallow the MSM spin hook, line, and sinker.

You didn't see my original (parenthesis) message, since changed by the moderator:

(or, Florida Senate Race Goes to Democrats)

I hope you're wrong, of course. But hoping and wishing doesn't mean much in the real world.

Stupidest thing said today.

Laura [Bush] is a nasty mouth pervert

I spoke too soon, you've outdone yourself!

Harris polled 38% for the primary, and you gloated about it. When Harris took 64% of the Miami-Dade vote against the Hispanic McBride, and 49.4% against three other candidates statewide, you are still touting polls to encourage a Harris defeat in November.

There are plenty of people HERE who hate her. You know, the "real, true" conservatives that FR seems to be flush with.

I could be wrong, but it seems as if the "real, true" conservatives got her nominated and the moderates and RINOs are complaining that she has no chance in the general. Was I mistaken?

The MSM only speaks the unvarnished truth, as you know better than anyone.

And as you well know, it is lazy to assume that everything in the media is fabricated. The lies told by the Harris campaign are numerous and well-documented. Only a true believer could be so blind as to pretend they didn't happen.

You have proved my point, though - this win has certainly emboldened the Harris fans, if not her campaign. Therefore there will be no changes to this disastrous campaign, business as usual will continue and we'll lose a seat we should win.
