I opened this mornings Miami Herald and Katherine Harris is a non-winner(There was not a single mention of her victory to be found on the front page, only on the iside of the election section was a story buried about how she had overcome herself to win.)
my prediction, she will continue to overcome herself to win in November. She is her only threat.

Yes, that was the problem. Either a lot of good conservatives who worked closely with her all say she ran a disastrous campaign, or Harris hired a bunch of incompetent non-conservatives to run her campaign.
Neither speaks well of her chances for November, although now that she is the candidate she needs all of our backing.
After all, her positions on the issues is sound, and Nelson is no friend of the republicans OR the conservatives.
It doesn't matter any more that other candidates who didn't have the organization to beat her in the primary might have done better in the general election.
Also, I assume, or hope, or pray, or whatever it is you do at this time, that a lot of the polls showing her losing badly to Nelson were partly driven by supporters of OTHER republican candidates saying they would vote for Nelson instead of her -- that's what people supporting other primary candidates DO in polls, to scare people into voting for their own candidate.
It is almost certain that most of those who voted in the primary, or who supported other candidates, will on the next poll say they will vote for Katherine rather than Nelson. Whether that is enough to make her a "viable" candidate, I don't know. If it does, the momentum will then cause others to decide to vote for her -- those people who hate to vote for losers, and yes there are people like that who vote, sad as it may be.
It is pathetic how so much of our voting public is driven by polls, but that's just how it is.
Harris can win the election. After all, it hasn't happened yet, and people can walk into those booths and decide to vote for what is best for Florida. But she needs republicans to be on message, if not for her, AT LEAST supporting her position on issues and denouncing Nelson for HIS position on issues.
Focus on the issues, let her campaign sell her as having the right position on those issues. Certainly we all can AT LEAST do that, right? No matter how much you don't like her, you certainly can support the RIGHT POSITION ON ISSUES, even if they happen to be HER position, right?
I voted for her and I'll do so again in November.

Nelson has been accused of doing nothing. I wish that were true. Unfortunately, he votes in lockstep with his lunatic left buddies: Kerry, Kennedy, Reid, Schumer, Leahy, Boxer, Feinstein, Levin, and the rest of the Socialist Party. He doesn't represent Florida; he represents the welfare states and cities.
If you are finding such anti Christian attitudes here on a conservative site, just imagine how the average voter feels about sanctimonious Bible thumpers. The public has two minds about Christians. Prevent my child from being taken to an abortion clinic without my knowledge (GOOD). Make a stink about not filling legal prescriptions at a pharmacy you dont own (bad). Eliminate partial birth abortion (good). Prevent stem cell research because its better to throw out unused embryos (bad). Prevent legalization of gay marriage (good). Get all bent out of shape when a private company offers benefits to gay partners (bad - owners get to decide such issues not the cultural sensors of the neighborhood).
Actually, getting 50% in a 4-way race for a primary challenge is pretty good.
In the 13th district race to replace her, the 5 candidates split the vote so badly that the winner only got about 30% of the vote.
I'm glad she got 50%. If McBride had been close, it could have caused troubles after the primary. But it is clear that Harris is the choice of the republicans in Florida, and that they were willing to come out to the polls to get her has their nominee (that's a pretty good turnout for a primary, over 950,000).
Also, with a strong race for governor in both parties, you'd expect both parties to have a turnout. The republican turnout was again over 950,000 vs about 700,000 for the democrats. So it seems the republicans were more motivated than the democrats, even with a close 5-way race for governor in the democrat primary.
It's all about turnout, and K. Harris got a half a million people to show up for her for a primary. Now we have to get another 2.5 million to show up for the general election.
In contrast, the golden boy of the democrats in Virginia, James Webb, in a hotly contested contest, only managed to get about 90,000 people to vote for him (our state is a little over half the size of florida, so that would translate to 180,000 floridans).
Harris is the winner.
I'm not really surprised at that. But will she beat Nelson?

You watch-- the Bushs and the RNC will wait until the numbers show she's a contender first, then waltz in. But not until then. There won't be any kissing of anatomy parts.
Remember, this is the GOP that supports LIEberman and Chafee. This is some kind of strategery, maybe, like blowing off border security.
I admit I was not a huge fan of Harris in the primary, but not she's got the nom I am for her 100%.
Nothing would please me more than to see this lady pull this one out. Her coverage on this forum has been almost totally negative which I have never totally understood.
It's kin to the bunch that wants to dump Steele in Maryland because he "diss'd the prez".

No wonder the Miami Herald editors buried it. I'll bet the editors are wondering why they bothered to send Dolan to cover the election night events.
I don't know. If she does win it will show a trend toward Christian and conservative fundamentalist values which will make the libs foam at the mouth even more than they do.
Her fundie comments lately reminds me a bit of Vernon Robinson.
Hopefully we can get more canditates like that elected, be they republican, libertarian or independant.
