Let me get this straight...none of Harris' Republican opponents could beat her, yet somehow her winning means Nelson is going to have an easier time of winning? I'm missing the logic... if there is any.

Try this, in the general election, more than just crazy fundementalist wingnuts have the opportunity to vote. If you think the nut cases who voted for Harris are representative of Florida voters overall, your nuts. During the primary something like 10-20% of registered Republicans vote. So only a vocal minority. Add in independents and a few conservative Dems and you have a potential victory. Having Harris as the candidate will drive away all but those nuts who voted for her in the primary while motivating the Dems to come out in drove because "she stole the 2000 election".

That said I really don't know the breakdown of FR over Harris, and where they reside on the ideological scale.

My concern with Harris is that her own campaign people have been quiting and badmouthing her, but I have a lot of respect for her conduct in the 2000 election and we need that seat. If I lived in Florida it would be an easy choice to vote for Harris. If Harris's election campaign foretells incompetence to come as a Senator, it still beats poisonous rat treason. Good Luck Katherine.

How long have you been a cheerleader for the Dems, Dave?

She got my vote and that was BEFORE I saw her on that horse!

She is a principled, attention to detail person with solid Christian values and unlike some consumate politicians is running for the good of her state.

I feel vindicated and bolstered in the fact that many (50% in a four-way race) voted issues and results versus voting for a so-called "winner".

Also, let me go on record and say I also voted for Gallagher and will swallow hard but support Crist as though he had been my choice.

After all, as another Harris (Sydney J.) once quoted, "If you're not part of the solution you're are part of the problem...".

I will be sending another contribution.

May God continue to bless....

I'm about up to here with all the "she can't win" mice who scurry to these Katherine Harris threads. The mice believe that "she can't win" - - because the dying, socialist "mainstream" newsrooms told them so.

I mean, there's never been an election upset before, has there?

"This campaign will go down in history as one of the most disastrous ever run in the United States," declared Jim Dornan, who helped launch Harris' bid as her campaign manager but left three months later.

I certainly hope that isn't the case, but if the last few months are any indication, his prediction is so far showing to be correct.

This primary victory would be a good showing if her opponents were well funded, highly known candidates - but they were not anywhere close. Her name ID advantage should have given her a huge landslide...instead it looks like she is struggling to get a majority of the vote - very, very poor showing...so sad.

Well we're screwed. Red Florida splits it's senate seats. That's just great.
Maybe we can hold onto some of those New England Rino's.

Wanna bet that the people that the people that hate her will most likely be found on the "I Love Rudy" threads expressing their eternal fealty?

We have a chance to gain a Republican Senate seat. She's the Republican candidate. W and Jeb need to now get behind her.

We have real candidates that need support in this election. Harris has no chance to win. She will lose as badly as that kook former presidential candidate who ran for the Senate in Illinois did in his race against Obama.

I am unfamiliar with this Florida campaign. Was she the most conservative candidate?

LOL! You could be right.

I know this: If Rudy Guliani ever attains the Presidency, it will be a terribly sad day for the Republic.

My concern with Harris is that her own campaign people have been quiting and badmouthing her

Usually, that's what happens when a candidate "doesn't listen" to his or her "professional handlers" (sent over by the party) about how to cleverly waffle on tough political issues.

The continual rabid, brainwashed attacks on every aspect of her person, her figure, her campaign, and anything else their fevered brains could concoct are right out of DU.

Bingo.

Nelson is not so bright that he can say stupid things like Biden and sound like he knows his subject!

You really think Nelson can out do Harris call last weekend for a theocracy and that you should only elect Christians because all others are sinners.

"Stole the 2000 election" did not happen and the voters know it in Florida - Bush won there twice. The second time around should have been a clear that was a nonstarter, not to mention Jeb Bush's victory. The reason she is so far behind and had this fairly poor showing is one campaign disaster after another - handing the media things to attack her over on a silver platter. The Katherine Harris of the last few months has been a cartoon character. She needs to find that "tough as nails" person that was around 2000 to turn this around.
