Two hospitals in northwestern England will be offering head-to-toe gowns for Muslim women who request them, officials said Tuesday.
The burqa-style blue gown will be available from Nov. 1 for patients served by the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The trust operates two hospitals, the Royal Preston, and the Chorley and South Ribble.
"I noticed a gap in the market and thought that it would be great if there was a gown that helped to preserve a patient's modesty," said Karen Jacob, linen services manager for the trust, who designed the product.
Jacob said the gown could be adapted to show a user's whole face, or to expose only a strip across the eyeline.
The hospitals are believed to be the first in Britain to offer the full-cover gown.
Re: Gown picture.....ROFLMAO!
"At some point soon, we're going to be asking: Who lost Britain?"
"In the wake of 9/11 the citizens of the UK never accepted it as their war, and they still don't"
"The British government has a strategy for southern Iraq but not southern England"
Not-So-Great Britain along with other Euro-peons, will one day be lined up at the Islamic Infidel Beheading Centers for their Daniel Pearl Treatments.
Hard to imagine that the good people of England are going French on us.
Muslims weren't the only ones who had this problem. The only way I'll get a hospital gown to cover my butt is to convert to Islam?
Good Dhimmis! They'll let you live for another month.
They should cut some of it off?
Exactly right! When are coutries going to end this catering to this violent minority group? Paraphrasing the good PM of Australia, "Adapt or get out."
LOL! That was my first thought, too.
A) Im thoroughly creeped out when I see women wearing the barqas which leave just an eye-slit, especially if its covered with a thick mesh so you can barely see the wearers eyes (I see this once or twice a week at my local Home Depot here in Illinois). And Im equally creeped out by the men who want them to dress this way.
B) But then, Im also a bit creeped out by the dress of some members of conservative Christian and Jewish groups as well.
C) Still, if socially conservative women - of any religion - want to wear garments they feel protects their modesty in public places, I dont feel its my place to object.
D) And I was such a woman, probably the place I would feel most uncomfortable "exposing" myself would-be in a hospital-like setting.
LOL--
Give me one of these without the head dress. i hate having my ass hanging out in the Christian style ones.
Modesty and common sense should be able to co-exist. These outfits have to be stifling and pretty miserable at times. Common sense allows anyone the freedom to function normally. A person can dress modestly enough without having to don a complete cover up of every square inch of skin. Also, in fact, the men's head wraps have to be pretty hot with all that fabric wrapped and knotted around the head.
I am so thankful that the Lord loves us and wants us to use common sense and be able to function normally at the same time.
In any other decade, this would be a Monty Python skit.
Best not to lay down in one of them. You'll get wheeled to the morgue.
The doc could treat OBL himself and not know it.
How about these concessions?
Freedom to have Bibles.
Freedom to buy Bibles.
Freedom to read Bibles in public.
Freedom to buy wine and beer.
Freedom to have the sacrament in public.
Freedom to prosetylize the Christian faith.
Freedom from paying the Jizyah (tax for the dhimmis).
Freedom from having the US and the west infected with
Saudi-funded Wahabbist mosques.
How is that, for a start?
Some atheists don't believe Christians should have those rights. Or any other rights for that matter.
Oh. I thought we were talking about hospital gowns.
