Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
Anyone listening to Levin quoting Admin members "linking" Saddam and Al Qaeda. Next he'll argue that we should put Saddam back in power. I've been listening to the quotes, and everyone of them is true.
I just switched over to hear Levin. Now that the Joe Wilson mantra that Bush lied has been proven false, they are going with plan b.
They are trying to rewrite history

I had to turn off Levin or I would have broken my TV and computer..
BUT, I have a SCOOP...I turned off Levin and turned on the Bill O'Reilly radio talk show.
His guest was William Cohen, Clinton's Sec. of Def....and they were discussing the war on terror, blah blah.
Bill asked him about the various times the Clinton had the opportunity to catch or kill OBL...and Cohen said this, "well, you have to understand that at the time that OBL was blowing up embassies, WE WERE TOO DISTRACTED BY SADDAM HUSSEIN..and what he was doing in Iraq, with possible WMD'S"!!!
IOW..like Bill said, SADDAM WAS a part of the war on TERROR even in 1990s ..Cohen said in 1998, they were focusing totally on Saddam and the weapons inspectors...
There is NO WAY a dem can say that the war in Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 in that way...because if the USA hadn't been so concerned about SADDAM, there would have been more attention paid to OBL...and he MIGHT have been caught.
Is this senate intel report the same report that Reid and gang shut the Senate down for???
And have any pubbies commented on the WHOLE report
or are we just hearing the Dems side??

Tony was asked about it today...and said the report..and the ensuing "speeches" will be the "same old, same old".

You hear the best stuff, Txsleuth. Thanks for that report. It sounds like Cohen can expect a call from The Mob within the former Clinton administration to condemn him and make him take it back.

I have to admit that after I heard that...I had to do something with my gr-daughter and I didn't hear the rest of the interview.
When I got back to the show, Cohen was gone, but Bill was saying that if Cohen is right and there are quotes in that 9/11 movie that Berger, Albright and others never said...they should be edited out...blech.
THEN, a caller told Bill.."let me get this straight, Cohen just admitted that they were too busy going after Saddam and worry about what he was up to, to deal with OBl?" Bill said , "YES"...and the guy said that then this puts a lie to the dems who are saying that Saddam has nothing to do with the war on Terror..." and before he could finish his sentence, Bill interrupted him and said something like, yes..and those that are going around saying that Saddam was no threat are wrong...and I respect the fact that Cohen admitted that.
Yes...but I am not as good at transcribing as you are..so I might have missed a word or something...but my mouth was hanging open from the second he admitted they weren't paying attention to OBL because of SADDAM...
especially since I had just heard a half hour of Levin and Rockefeller telling me that Saddam had nothing to do with the war on terror, never had a reason to go after him...blah, blah.
Last night I heard Richard Miniter, author of Losing Bin Laden, on Philly's WPHT. He claimed that after the Cole bombing, Richard Clark proposed a massive missile attack on Afghanistan to Clinton's cabinet. Of course all of them came up with idiotic reasons for not doing it, but according to Miniter, Cohen's response was one of the worst. Cohen argued that the Cole bombing "did not rise to the level" that would justify such an attack.
If this is true, Cohen is unworthy of respect and certainly no patriot.

The Senate Intelligence Committee just released a report that Iraq never had a relationship with Al Qaeda. It's going to be a bad week ahead for Republicans and if the Bush administration and Congressional Republicans don't counter this (which they won't), color me disgusted.
