Well, I watched Rush's taped segment on CBS evening news. My husband I agree, it was far too subtle. Most people watching won't even know who he was talking about.
He looked good, sounded forceful, very impressivee....until you realized non-Rush fans won't even know what he was talking about, who he was railing against.
Katie introduced Rush by saying he was opinionated. I wish he'd been more specific. I wish he'd said
"it's liberals, it's democrats who want to negotiate with people who want us dead".
I forgot to tune in when I got home. Do you think there will be a transcript?
Rush has the transcript and video on his website.
for posterity; Rush's comments
"My friends, it's time to face a hard, cold fact. Militant Islam wants to kill us just because we're alive and don't believe as they do. They've been killing us for decades. So it's time to stop pretending these terrorist incidents are mere episodic events and face the reality that our way of life is in grave danger. This threat is not just going to go away because we choose to ignore it. Some say we should try diplomacy. Yeah, well, tell me, how do we negotiate with people whose starting point is our death? Ask them to wait for ten years before they kill us? When good negotiates with evil, evil will always win and peace follows victory, not words issued by diplomats. But some Americans, sadly, not interested in victory, and yet they want us to believe that their behavior is patriotic.
Well, it's not. When the critics are more interested in punishing this country over a few incidents at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay than they are in defeating those who want to kill us; when they seek to destroy a foreign surveillance program which is designed to identify those who want to kill us and how they intend to do it; when they want to grant those who want to kill us U.S. constitutional rights, I don't call that patriotic. Patriotism is rallying behind the country, regardless of party affiliation to defeat Islamofascism. Patriotism is supporting our troops in the battlefield, not undermining the mission and morale. Let there be no doubt about this: America will prevail. We're the same country that survived a bloody civil war, defeated the Nazis and the Soviets. Each generation has a responsibility to the next, our generation will not disappoint."
Ping for Friday, September 8, 2006.
Friday's Guests:6:29am - Kinky Friedman, 7:29am - Tom Oliphant, 8:29am - Terry Bradshaw
Imus said he saw Rush last night and doesn't disagree with a thing Rush said.
Heard that. He is also making fun of the idea of Armitage slipping up on Ms. Wilson not once, but twice. I am yelling at Bernard repeating that she was "undercover." I am listening to Rush on Bill Bennett's program. "When good negotiates with evil, evil always wins."
Does anyone know if the Rush segment from CBS last night is available on the net?
Both Bartlett and Kenny in the house. Gotta be a good Friday.
What's with it not even starting to get light by 6:00 a.m.?
I did catch that and I believe Bartlett is "Limbaugh" this morning. Thanks for the word for word.
I suspected early on that Fitzgerald asked (ordered) Armitage to not say any thing more. Now, Fitzgerald will have to explain why he did that.
He apparently did ask him not to talk, but he has no power to enforce the request. I have asked myself whether I could have or would have stayed silent while my President and a lot of other innocent people were pounded over and over and the answer is absolutely not. He is a reprehensible little worm and so is Powell.
Kinky's up.
I'm listening to Bill Bennett. It was Feingold who put a hold yesterday on the legislation to make the NSA program legal. Giuliani is leading in the polls, which they interpret as meaning that the base is all about defending the country from terrorists (the use of the term "base" may not be quite apt here). They are now talking about the JAG lawyers insistance that the terrorist defendants see ALL of the evidence against them.
I wonder if W DID know after Gonzales knew, and then just stayed above the fray? If he did, I believe he did the right thing by not getting involved.
It is reported that Gonzales refused to hear any specifics about the case, which was also the right thing to do. How very different from the Clintons.
Bernard is quick.
Imus asks Charles how to keep a dog from peeing on the carpet.
In a flash Bernard says, "You lead by example for one."
Rob "Rush Limbaugh" Bartlett's essay on Couric was great. I hope others caught it. I've never been able to find transcrips of either Bartlett or Kenny.
LOL. I am quite fond of Bernard, even though we differ on a number of things. Here is a tidbit from the Bennett show which confirms a suspicion I have had. They opine that Karen Hughes gave up on her "let's all get along and understand each other" tour of the mideast because she discovered it was pointless. I have long thought that was the case.
