The fact that she KNOWS how poorly she is doing and yet steadfastly remains in a race she cannot win, yet the contest with any other viable Republican would make it competitive, is beyond selfish, not to mention destructive. If we had other candidates nationwide acting exactly as she has, we'd easily lose our majority.

Sorry, but your logic escapes me. She is doing so poorly that she is clobbering her Rep opponents in the primary.

She was elected twice to Congress by significant margins. She should pull out of the race to allow someone else to win the primary? If there is a stronger candidate, he/she should have run in the primary. The polls months before an election aren't necessarily the final word. I guess we should encourage Reps to pull out of the Presidential campaign in 2008 except for McCain and Rudy. Only they can beat Hillary.

This is all sour grapes stuff. It is debatable whether any Rep can beat the incumbent, Nelson, but the real poll is the ballot box. Harris deserves Rep support and the predominately Rep state government should get behind her.

"Sorry, but your logic escapes me. She is doing so poorly that she is clobbering her Rep opponents in the primary."

Clobbering third-rate candidates with an unspectacular margin. Hardly a victory.

"She was elected twice to Congress by significant margins."

Nope, she was elected by unimpressive margins, running behind the President, and failed to improve on her initial victory. Her GOP predecessor, Dan Miller, routinely scored well over 60-65% of the vote and ran far ahead of Dubya in 2000.

I've heard the same arguments ad infinitum, and I've refuted them ad infinitum. KH hasn't won a statewide election in FL since 1998, when she was unknown. Being unknown helped her win. It won't help now, because she is about the most well-known figure in FL. She can revel in her selfish victory, because it won't get us anything in November. Now that she has her vindication, she should do the right thing and step aside for a candidate who can win... that's what a responsible Republican would do.
