Heres what we know. The Bush administration was framed by Valerie Plame, the upper CIA, and the mainstream media, with the active connivance of Richard Armitage, who is well known as Colin Powells best friend. Armitage has now been outed, after three years of Wilson-Plame smears against the administration going without an effective answer, and the VPs chief of staff under indictment.
We also know that Colin Powells right hand man, Col. Larry Wilkerson (ret.) went on a public rampage against the Bush administration, following other foreign policy retreads from Clinton I, such as Richard Clarke, the egregious Joe Wilson and Sandy Burglar.
We know that Colin Powell is worshipped by the media, and that he was in fact fired by Bush, along with his loyal friends Dick Armitage and Larry Wilkerson. The media have been filled with malevolent attacks on George W. Bush for six years, not hesitating to undermine and sabotage his foreign policy in the most flagrant and unprecedented way. Todays troubles in Iraq and Iran are due at least in part to the fact that terrorists and tyrants need no propaganda apparatus of their own: The New York Times and Washington Post will do it for them. Propaganda is the lifeblood of terrorism, and the media have been feeding our enemies what they need most.
Is is too much to speculate that Colin Powell is looking for a job in the Hillary administration, either as SecDef, or more likely, as Veep? A Hillary-Colin ticket would run strongly in the media, the first resort of a Washington-centric establishment. It would mobilize the black vote, which is showing worrying signs of doubt about the great benevolence of the Democrats. It would bring out liberal women, and the larger sucker vote. Powell may not be the most vigorous candidate, but it wouldnt matter. The media would cover for him.
Its a speculation, but it fits a lot of facts. The logical GOP counter-move is to run Rudy Giuliani and Condi Rice. But thats only a dream ticket, and Dr. Rice may be (understandably) disinclined to get into the Washington cesspit. The real worry is that Colin Powell has long shown poor judgment in foreign policy matters. In Gulf War I he was vehemently against the US liberation of Kuwait. If Powell had won the argument Saddam Hussein would now own Kuwait and Iraq, and be a viable threat to Saudi Arabian oil. A cynic might argue that the Iranians would then have a natural enemy in Iraq, but that would only make for two nuclear arms races among terror-supporting tyrannies in the Middle East. Now we have only one.
For Republicans, the Powell gang has burned its bridges. It can never be trusted again. There is therefore only one option, if Powell and his clique want another chance at the power they so crave: the Democrats.

It'd be pretty much a done deal if this were to happen.
I wonder if I should get my prayer rug now, you know in some bright south of the border colors?
"More likely that Hillary would run for Powell's VEEP"
I can see Powell winding up as a suicide in Ft. Marcy Park.
Obama Osama.
Won't matter .. they are both scum
Colin Powell, the Brutus of the current adminsitration, a man with no honor whatsoever, and no interest in the well bing or success of his own country, and willing to damage that country for his own personal gain, is hoping for a spot in a McCain administration (may God save us all from that).
Well .. if the Powell gang is involved in this to get a VP spot from Hillary .. then maybe I'm right when I keep saying it was Hillary who planned Plame-gate to begin with.
If so .. then perhaps the Powell gang agreed to go along in order to get the VP spot.
You can't get more disloyal than that. Bush's only mistake is that he believed a public servant was just that .. a public servant .. a person who served the public regardless of political party.
Although Bush had lots of experience around the WH during Reagan and his dad's presidencies, I don't think he realized what the Clinton really did to the political scene and how much they had corrupted and decimated the democrats.
The other part of this is Powell's need to get back at Bush for publically scolding him so many times when Powell would go off the reservation and not consult with Bush about about the President's policy was.
Then we have Armitage .. who certain had a couple of axes to grind. When Powell left .. Armitage did not get tagged for Powell's spot .. it was given to Condi. And .. Armitage did not even get the NSA head when Condi went to state. Surely Armitage had plenty of reasons to hate the Bush admin.
But .. I still say this is Hillary's little game to destroy the repubs so she would have a chance in 2008.
Who says so other than the author? I bet Powell would still be at state if he wanted to.
If not for VP Bush Sr. Colin Powell would never have made it past BG. He owes alot to the Bush family and I doubt he would knowingly betray them.
I don't believe Powell would run for any office. There was some interest in him running some years ago but he declined. Rumors at the time suggested some kind of problem
I've thought for a long time that hillary would run with Powell as VP.
A top/bottom pro-abortion ticket like Giuliani/Rice would be a disaster.
Well .. I didn't think he would do that because his wife has been adamant about him not running for President. She had a dream or a vision of him being asassinated - and he promised her he would ever run.
I would guess Powell would more likely want to be SecDef - because he would love to be able to undo everything Rummy has changed.
As far as I know, Colin Powell has never run for any elective office. Campaigning is beneath him. He might accept being appointed President, but I don't see any reason why he would want to be VP under Hillary...let alone campaign for the job. The office would have less power than he had as Secretary of State, since Hillary and Bill and their sycophants would be making all the decisions...just like when they were in the White House before.
I have never understand how Powell went from Jt Chiefs lifetime military career to guru diplomat.
I used to think that Powell was a man of character, turns out, he has none.
Colin Powel always struck me as a Jimmy Carter Republican...
He took the state department gig because it is viewed as a stepping stone to the pres job (as in years past)
He has always eyed the presidency.
I dont see too many generals making the transition to "second in command." It ain't in their character.
VP would be a horrible job for him.
Of course, the Dems would never let it happen either. Its not good politics to bring in someone from the other team to run the show (even if it IS the second tier job.) The old men in the grey suits would never allow it to happen.
Turncoats to their party usually have to stew for a while before they get credible.
One must understand that Colin Powell is the ultimate example of affirmative action. How else could the General in charge of the Quartermaster Corps become Chairman of the Joint Chiefs? In private business that would be like the supervisor of the purchasing department becoming the CEO. It just doesn't happen like that.
He is a man without honor, loyal only to himself, and possessing little if any inborn talent.
Rudy Giuliani and Condi Rice. But thats only a dream ticket,
Hmmmm.... if giuliani and rice are are "a dream ticket"
It's well past time to find a new party.............
