Tehran, Sep 3: Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit New York this month to attend the United Nations General Assembly, state television IRIB reported.
In an interview with the channel Saturday, Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki confirmed that Ahmadinejad will visit the UN General Assembly and deliver a speech in front of the assembly.
This would be the second visit by Ahmadinejad to the US since taking office in August 2005. In September 2005, he was at the UN headquarters in New York to speak to the General Assembly.

Guys, guys,
guys! Come on!
You aren't helping the country's cause by going overboard.
Let's just cool it -- knock off the foam-at-the-mouth stuff. I know you're indignant, but jeez, guys, a little discretion is called for here.

No, more rope-a-dope on the nuclear weapons development issue.
This is part of Iran's "talk talk, fight fight" counteroffensive against the West's diplomatic push against them.
This, and the Khatami/Carter propaganda clown show.

You aren't helping the country's cause by going overboard As opposed to these a**hole's going overboard? Sorry, you'll have to explain why they can start a war and we cannot react in kind.

No, more rope-a-dope on the nuclear weapons development issue...................
For sure, but I'll bet he'll have the look of someone who believes he defied the U.S in front of the world and got away with it.
And THAT, in and of itself, is a victory of sorts, unfortunately.

yep , I agree.
If we are really going to defeat the Axis of Evil
let's start really defeating them.
Not just talk (and boast!) about defeating the Axis of Evil.
We all know that most of this is stemming from Iran , so let's start there.
If the world had a chance to knock off Hitler back in the mid
30's , would it not have been a good idea ,in retrospect, to have done so.
And Hitler did not even have The Bomb
Now we are faced with a psycho nutcase that may be even more dangerous than Hitler was , and who will (or already does have) The Bomb.
Should we wait , due to some damn diplomatic decorum , until his power increases even further towards Hitlerdom ,
or worse , or is it wise to take a chance and take him out now.
The fact that these characters fly around the world with an arrogant sense of complete immunity shows how dangerous they are becoming.
Even Saddam and Qaddafi hid out . Bin Laden hides out , Kim Jong Ill hides out...
We are absolutely nuts to NOT take the golden opportunity to end the careers of these characters whenever we have the shot . Take the damn shot and to hell with the damn rules...

It would be a shame if he had an " accident " while he were here.

Applying rules of decorum during a time of war is a sure way to lose. I agree with you 100%.

"Why in the world would the President allow him in this country?"
He is a head of a country, Iran.
Because the UN is located in NYC, he would have to be allowed to come. But we are only required to allow him to come to NYC.
Now if we could come up with some warrants for his arrest...that would be sweeeeeeet!
The former president of Iran, however does not have that same right to come here.
