Tehran, Sep 3: Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will visit New York this month to attend the United Nations General Assembly, state television IRIB reported.
In an interview with the channel Saturday, Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki confirmed that Ahmadinejad will visit the UN General Assembly and deliver a speech in front of the assembly.
This would be the second visit by Ahmadinejad to the US since taking office in August 2005. In September 2005, he was at the UN headquarters in New York to speak to the General Assembly.
Why in the world would the President allow him in this country?
Citizen's arrest, anyone?

Just curious....is there precedent for denying the head of a state to enter the US to speak at the UN? No one springs to mind, but I'm not sure. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what Ahmecrazyguy says.

Ahmadinejad has been making Bush look like the mediocre, inarticulate lightweight that he is; this is just another instance of the profound weakness that permeates American 'leadership'. Bush is going to show the world how "tolerant" and "multicultural" he is, while Ahmadinejad continues to make him look stupid.
Do you think that a "President Rudy" would allow him in? I think not.
I hope he doesn't bring a "bright light" with him.
Sounds like an opportunity for proselytizing. Wouldn't that drive the MSM nuts; thousands of Christians in the streets trying to convert an Islamic leader.
I suppose we could follow the Khomeini example, and have some "students" (with addresses in Langley, VA) hold him "hostage" until Iran complies with the NPT (and UN mandate). Since Ali Khameini actually runs the Iranian theocracy, this would probably accomplish little in terms of the Iranian nuke program.
