This guy has truly gone off the deep end. Besides, I don't see what pisses him off so much about the current government. The "conservative" PAN government staunchly opposes the Iraq war, condemns the death penalty in every cirucmstance, supports gun confiscation, loves the UN, supportions the communist regime in Cuba, is silent on abortion, and loves the welfare state. If I was a leftist living in Mexico, I'd be pretty happy with PAN rule. Vicente Fox stands for everything Slick Willy believed in.

When my kids were competing in karate I used to tell them to either win definitively or not come crying to me about the judge's decisions.

Why should there be a big concern about who takes control when the margin for victory is minute? After all, half the people *did* vote for the other guy!

The media simply works the citizenry into a frenzy for its own purposes.

The difference is between Calderon, the "conservative" who will tweak socialism here and there and Obrador, the communist who will almost make Hugo Chavez seem moderate by comparison. Obrador and his cronies will become fantastically wealthy if he becomes "President for life", even as Mexico is reduced to stone-age conditions.

On the up side. If a true Communist government takes over. Maybe they will build the wall and save us the trouble.

FOUR things Vicente Fox President of Mexico did that bring terrible consequences.
#1. First Act of his Presidential term he was on his knees commending his tenure to office to the Image of the Virgen of Guadalupe at the Villa, Tepeyac.
#2. Removed the portrait of Enemy of the Catholic Church, leader of Mexicos Reform, Benito Juarez who called for Freedom of Choice in matters of religion from Veracruz, Dec 4, 1860.
#3. Bowed down as Head of State of all the Mexican people, before another Potentate of another State, the Vatican, kissing his ring.
#4. Has declared that the last day of his Presidency, he will make again a trip to the Villa, bowing in adoration and gratitude for the Virgen's Help.

The issue will be, just where do "they" want the border.....?

This has been coming since 1835....we Texians better be prepared....

Sounds a lot like Joe LIEberman. He still insists the 2000 election was stolen.

People on the left seem to have a part of their brains missing.

Wow! Has this Mexican yo-yo been reading Al Gore's press releases and speeches since 2000? Certainly seems that way. Can we possibly get the Gore people to flee to Mexico, so all the left-wing crazies are concentrated south of the border? Just a thought.

. . . and your conclusion is: what? That Obrador should be allowed to take the office someone else (narrowly) won by the law, because he is willing to threaten chaos? Or is it that Obrador is whining like a spoiled brat in need of a spanking?

This is going to deteriorate into a shooting conflict.

Obrador is no Zapata or Villa, but if he keeps trying to ignite the conflict, one will appear. I do not think that Obrador really understands that he is on the edge of causing a full scale revolution.

Lot of people are going to get hurt, probably including Obrador.

I think that this is going to get pretty funky in the very near future... and not the good kind of funk, either. This guy is an unhinged lunatic, God help us all if he manages to seize power.

""We will not only decide on our form of government ... but something very important will also be defined: the basic plan for the transformation of Mexico," said Lopez Obrador, of the Party of the Democratic Revolution."

This sounds like a revolution in the making. I don't think Obragore has that much muscle on his side. Campesinos with pitchforks won't do it. Still, this will be terribly destructive for Mexico.

You are correct. Get the fence up NOW. The refugees will be coming. They will likely come from the loosing side. That means a lot of loosers (leftists from Southern Mexico).

Possibly the fact that "the other guys" will be leaching money out of the public treasury instead of "their" guys. There's a BIG difference between the other guys stealing money and you stealing money. The other guys stealing money doesn't make YOU any richer.

The same thing with power. Someone else having power is not the same as you having it, no matter how close your respective political practices.

The upside may be that a Communist Mexico will soon give us the excuse to send the US Army down there to solve their problem once and for all. We should not have left the last time we sent the Army there, but it did at least provide excellent training for the regular Army leader in the Civil War. This time the regular Army is well trained from Iraq and Afghanistan.

This will not be nation-building, this will be building the 51st state. Let's do everything they accuse of us, this time, and make the new state safe for free enterprise. Then Mexicans won't have to go so far to be in the US. We'll all be better off!
