And Karen Carpenter had actually gained a little weight at the end. Ironically, that was what overstressed her already weakened heart.

A ham sandwich wouldn't have helped that situation.

- I hope they got it on video, he would have wanted it that way.

"Really? You think he'd want his wife and children to see it over and over again? It sounds insane to me."

The footage of late Australian naturalist STEVE IRWIN being killed by a stingray could be shown on TV. Charismatic Irwin, dubbed the Crocodile Hunter after his internationally acclaimed TV show, died yesterday while diving on Australia's Great Barrier Reef. Irwin was filming for a new documentary when he lost his life, and his cameraman shot the moment when the stingray's barbed tail stabbed the legendary conservationist through the heart. The tapes are currently being held by Queensland police - but Irwin's family are determined to respect his last wishes and allow the harrowing footage to be broadcast. Irwin once insisted, "My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it's shaky or slightly out of focus, I don't give a rip. "Even if a big old alligator is chewing me up I want to go down and go, 'Crikey!' just before I die. That would be the ultimate for me." An insider tells British newspaper the Daily Star, "This is exactly what Steve would have wanted. He knew the dangers and was totally up for the cameras to get everything."

I'll listen to Kevin Bloody Wilson in his memory...Honestly, though, I'm surprised he lasted this long with the way he went after those animals:

A la South Park

Irwin was not an asinine thrill seeker, and the freak accident that took his life did not involve any behavior different than that engaged in by THOUSANDS of regular divers each year, who come closer to see normally docile rays.

As far as his Croc scenes and other programs go, most of them were under better control than the program would have let you know (for obvious reasons).

He did not die because he engaged to reckless "thrillseeking" as you suggest, and in any event THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR THAT DISCUSSION.

Now show some respect to his family and quit embarassing yourself. See also my post #543 as it applied to both the misnamed "GWB" poster and to you.

But your #543 was just stupid drivel.

Now show some respect to his family and quit embarassing yourself.

More stupidity. It is not possible to show respect or disrespect to the Irwin family at FR. They don't hang out here. Well, unless they stopped the grieving and funeral arrangements long enough to say, "Oh, gee, why don't we go FReeping instead of planning the funeral and grieving." I doubt that is happening. No, what you're really demanding is that others march in goosestep, conforming to your desired emotional reaction and join your little pity-party for someone who died after having chosen to lead a very dangerous life for the benefit of money and fame on television.

Sorry, not going to give in to your blackmail. You have fifty other threads to boo-hoo on. I'm leaving those alone so you have plenty of elbow-room for your crocodile tears all over this forum.

Thanks -- my humble suggestion is you whack that post. The level of insensitivity is way beyond FR standards (IMHO).

And how about a 2 or 3 day time out?

I would hate for that post to be shown as an example of "Conservative Compassion."

"my son...thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread."

And so he was. Rest in peace, Steve-o.
