Annan says he understands Iran nuke stance

TEHRAN, Sept. 3 (UPI) -- U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said in Tehran Sunday he now understands Iran's position on its nuclear enrichment program.

Annan, speaking to the reporters alongside Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, said he would explain his new understanding to the countries involved in discussions about Iran's nuclear ambitions, reported IRNA, Iran's official government-run news agency.

Annan said good dialogue had already been established between Iran and the U.N. Security Council about the country's nuclear program. He said his meetings with Iranian officials would help push discussions forward

looks like kofi had a "come to allah" moment...they obviously assuaged his disappointment over the warren jeffs apprehension last week--kofi's just glad to know that outside u.s. borders there are still prophets who can be polygamous, have sex with underage girls and command forced marriages.

"UNITED NATIONS, June 29 (AFP) - Hailed as "a global citizen", Kofi Annan took the oath of office of UN Secretary General for the second time Friday, saying he hoped in his new term to make individuals feel closer to the organisation.

"Only if their confidence in the United Nations has been strengthened will your confidence in me have been justified," he told the UN General Assembly after it had approved his re-appointment for five years by acclamation."

Annan, the seventh secretary general since the founding of the UN in 1945, said in a brief speech of acceptance that his first term had been "a time of sweeping change and great challenges".
