Thanks for this post. I was not home to see the original broadcast.

The lady from the NY Times still doesn't get that Valerie Plame was not a covert agent, and that no law cover her disclosure. She publicly went to work everyday at CIA headquarters. It was well known because of her big mouth husband that she worked at the CIA.Even Andrea Mitchell of NBCNews knew that.

Juan Williams was as dumb as a rock, again, still trying to stoke the dying embers of scandal where there is no scandal.

Brit Hume was morally forceful, saying where is Armitage and Powell, where are the reporters at their doorstep--these two had a lot to answer for.

Even Bill Kristol stood up for Libby, sainy he needed to pardoned.

A good panel discussion.

I thought that Kristol's point on pardoning Libby was excellent [right away, preferrably, to minimize lawyer's fees]. The man has been robbed by Fitzwater [?], and he needs to recoup his lawyer fees plus a percentage for the hell he's been through.

I have wondered about the strategy to pardon Scooter Libbey. It would drive the dimocRATS nuts and would expose them if done correctly. I will let the mastermind Karl Rove decide that one.

True, I would not let Fitzgerald off the hook either. He was prepared to ruin peoples' careers all due to some unverifiable phone conversations, and then when he didn't get that, he was prepared to ruin peoples' careers due to giving inconsistent answers about what did not even occur.

I know you meant Fitzgerald, who really needs to pay price for his perfidy. So do Powell and Armitage.

The lack of breathless reporters ontheir doorsteps is very telling. The GOP better be prepared to make this a big deal come Tuesday when the country reawakens, or they deserve what they get in November.

Tom Ridge of the original Homeland Security Dept. was the one who did the color code thing. Ashcroft might have been at a presser with Ridge when this was discussed with the media, but Ashcroft was not the originator.

I believe Ashcroft carried out what he thought was a routine action in appointing a special prosecutor to check into this. I believe the Dems in Congress pushed for this and the Repubs agreed. I believe the CIA referred this matter to Justice to be looked into. That part was ridiculous but it was still a real referral that had to be handled.

Ashcroft didn't want to look like he was investigating his boss, the President or the President's people, so he was probably relieved that it was out of his hands.

I fault Joe Wilson and Fitzgerald the most, as well as the lying Dems and the rest of the lying Media.

Novak "has to go"?? He's a journalist. A columnist. A reporter. What are you talking about?

The question is really did Ashcroft know Armitage was the leaker? If he didn't his FBI did and it means he did not take the time to check with them.

If Armitage was the leaker there was no reason for a special counsel. Just pleasing the RATS and the Press by appointing one makes no sense at all. Things merited a special counsel or they did not. If they did not, then this was a legal travesty requiring a quick and conclusive remedy.

Also, from the White House 7 February 2003:

Homeland Security Threat Level Raised to Orange
Remarks by Attorney General John Ashcroft, Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III

ASHCROFT: Good afternoon.

The United States government continuously reviews intelligence reporting to assess the current threat condition designation and to determine whether or not it should be adjusted.

After conferring this morning with the Homeland Security Council, the decision has been made to increase the threat condition designation currently classified at elevated risk, to increase that threat condition designation to the high-risk category

I missed Chrissy Mathews today. He pounded this Plame subject day after day, almost foaming at the mouth with glee, in anticipation of Rove or someone else in the white house, being arrested. I wonder if he even mentioned the ''scandal'' today. I have a feeling I already know the answer.........
