Editor's note: This Letter of the Week is in response to a letter to the editor that appeared Aug. 29. It is reprinted here for the reader's convenience: Just thought you'd like to know that most, if not all, medical personnel here in Miami are endorsing and voting for Charlie Crist for governor. I'm a physician in Miami and my colleagues, both doctors and nurses, have been strong advocates against any public official who had the audacity to interfere in what should have been a family medical decision. Yes, that's right. Our hospital had a poll two weeks ago which showed that 96 percent of us are voting for Crist, and we hold politicians accountable. Terri Schiavo had the cognition of a bag of lettuce. We've had many cases like hers since, but we're smarter now. We'll never let the religious fright know. The psychochristians, like you, have no place in the medical field. Neither do ignoramuses like the Schindlers. If you're interested, we're having a huge celebration after Charlie wins next week. Gallagher doesn't have a chance in hell of winning. Sorry!
Dr. Linda
A letter of questionable source is being used by the Gallagher team against Crist. That's why it's being discussed as much as it is.
Newspapers are starting to insist letters to the editor print full names and cities or towns. I'm starting to agree with that although for one letter I had written, I received hate mail.
"Whatever your opinion may be of the source, World Net Daily, it advocates consistently for the conservative side of issues and features many well liked on FreeRepublic, like Michelle Malkin, and takes the side of pro-life as does FreeRepublic, as you know."
"I'm starting to agree with that although for one letter I had written, I received hate mail.
"
That's standard practice in newspapers, and has been for years. No name or address, the letter doesn't get published. WND doesn't follow that.
I've written many, many letters to the editor. Like you, I have gotten hate mail and threatening phone calls. I ignore that nonsense, but I do try to write sensibly in those letters. If someone wants to take offence, then I still take responsibility for my letter.
What I can say with certitude is that at Pinellas Park at the time of the killing of Terri, we saw detractors who could have been twins of Dr. Linda, very vile detractors at that, so have no trouble seeing this as a highly likely real letter. We also saw first hand the results of the Crist actions.
I notice also that many Crist supporters use the same tactics of the left, particularly projection, in which they visit upon their adversaries the very tendencies they, themselves, sport. It is much like the anti-gun folks accusing us of being potentially violent because they, themselves would be violent if the guns were in their own hands.
Anonymous letters are always questionable.
I agree. I'm reminded of those "push polls" by phone. It may be designed to infuriate staunch pro-life voters.
Either way, it would not influence me one way or another since "Dr. Linda" might well be real.
...A "real" abortion doctor, that is.

FINAL DAY BEFORE THE ELECTION: THE CHOICE IS CLEAR
Gallagher Team,
This is an important day. We have approximately 20 hours before the polls open in what is shaping up to be one of the most important primary elections of our time. There is a lot to think about this Labor Day weekend. People are going to be taking time away to be with their families, enjoy some football, and get some rest.
However, while you are spending time with your families, remember that tomorrow will be an important time for your families as well. Voters will face a clear choice as to whether to continue on the conservative path blazed by Governor Jeb Bush or to choose a more liberal path blazed by the likes of Howard Dean and John Kerry. Remember as you make that choice that our Party will not be made stronger by seeking détente with the Democrats on issues that will define who we are as a society. The choice is clear.
Tom Gallagher will protect our economic strength by not raising taxes, and he will take leadership on the homeowners insurance crisis. Tom Gallagher will work with Congress to protect our borders and stop the flow of illegal immigration that threatens our security. And Tom Gallagher will protect our families by defending traditional marriage and the unborn.
Charlie Crist has broken ranks with conservative leaders and endorsed the liberal Democrat class-size amendment that was part of Bill McBrides education plan and which even Jeb Bush has said will raise your taxes. Charlie Crist has irresponsibly endorsed the Senate Immigration Plan which provides illegal immigrants with amnesty before our borders are secured. Charlie Crist supports the Howard Dean plan of civil union-style gay marriage. And Charlie Crist is pro-choice.
Please urge your friends, neighbors, and family to turn out tomorrow and support Tom Gallagher for Governor. The future of our state and the future of our Party will depend upon your actions.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support, and we look forward to campaigning with you in the general election.
