To: Phsstpok; Alas Babylon!
Good morning and thank you, AB. Phsstpok nailed it in his intro thread when he said (paraphrasing) that we're in a war for our very lives (a war that could go nuke) and they're going to spend the day handicapping a horse race.

For good reason.

Most of us here have understood for a long time that the Plame/Wilson crap is evidence of a DBM/left-wing-of-the-CIA cabal to undermine a sitting president in a time of war, including trying desperately to prevent his re-election. Rather, Plame, Mary McCarthy, and I'm sure more to come of Enemies Domestic.

Quite a few of us here think that cabal extends into the State Department. Now we have some level of confirmation with the exposure of Armitage and Powell. When I was a little kid I remember my father saying, "I'm not sure the State Department's on our side." Now I understand what he meant and I agree. Enemies Domestic.

I can't wait to see if Timmy brings it up at all. Remember he and his wife (editor of Vanity Fair) have both been served by Libby's lawyers. They want that trial to go away.

Will he refer to the WaPo's tossing Wilson under the bus and conclude the charges should be dropped, or is he too frightened by his own complicity to even mention it?

For your State Department = our Foreign Office and I am certain they are not on our side. Nor for that matter is our Home Office.

Both of these departments go native and flex their muscles it is amazing in 2006 how much the men in grey still have influence.
