Mexican(s) is a legitimate geopolitical descriptor and as such the word should always be capitalized.

To present the descriptor in the lower case form implies cultural bigotry which does not serve either its author or this forum well.

Take care. Words have meanings.

In Spanish, which is the language the man in question prefers, mexicano is lower-case.

You're reading too much into it. Perhaps the poster made a typo, isn't clear on grammar rules, has RSI and doesn't use the shift key often, or just prefers lower case characters (many here do). You're going all PC on us!

Creating bigotry out of whole cloth like you did here doesn't serve the forum well either. Actual bigotry gets tossed quite quickly.

" To present the descriptor in the lower case form implies cultural bigotry which does not serve either its author or this forum well"

Just in case you read a post of mine and find a "descriptor" in lower case, its because I have no RESPECT for either the person or group involved.

It is not nor is it ever a racial slur, in my case. It is however done to marginalize or express my disgust with them.

I know about capitalization...I meant what I said...words do indeed have meaning....Likewise, I never capitalize, nor spell properly the name name of the murderous organization to which belong mohammadian lunatics...islm....

Thanks for the English lesson, however...but there is at least one of us here who just have a low regard for criminals who come into our country illegally...and those who have promised to kill us all....I will not offer a speck of respect to these people.

We exercise "cultural bigotry" against France and the French all the time here. mexico and mexicans do not deserve to be treated any differently or be given any special treatment here or anywhere else. Your PC BS does not serve you or this forum well. Cram it.

To present oneself as some sort of authority on "culture" when addressing the semantic use of a word describing "nationality" leaves one to believe that the person doing the addressing is pretty, well, un.....

Why bother?
