I agree. Problem is that Republicans spent so much time fearing the loss of office that they became empty suits.

There is a lot to that...and the ones that are still afraid should go.

But the only safe time to remove a ding dong is in the primary.

The other thing is, the world will not end if the Dems take the lead atbfp, the above quote from Badray is reflective of a couple of handful of FR posters, and (thankfully) only about 1% of voters.
This happens every election cycle. They threaten to stay home or vote third party. Third party (Constitution Party) hacks post here daily, tearing down each and every electable Republican candidate.
They are insignificant, and will not change the outcome, no matter how much they bloviate on Free Republic.
In 2000, I even had a Keyes supporter tell me it would be better to have a Dem in the WH than to have Bush, because "then people would understand how much we need Keyes". That really woke me up. Lately I've discovered an ugly truth relating to that statement. If a Democrat wins the WH, it is Gravy Train City for the only "real conservatives" and their foundations/alliances that exist by hyping IMPORTANT ISSUES! that need IMMEDIATE ACTION AND SUPPORT$$$$
You aren't going to change their minds. After all, they have too much to lose.
To: Rex Anderson
The only time when Republicans seem to actually
act like Republicans is when they're out of power.
Then you'll start hearing about fiscal responsibility and limited government.
Stay at home conservatives usually seem to be the ones who go for the losers in the GOP in the same way that left-wing Democrats only go for the losers in their party. The difference is, the Dumbocrats actually nominate their losers.

I've been accused of 'alienating the base' by a Constitution Party hack who was exposed.
Even after losing election after election... after election..., the right wing fringe has gained no political maturity. Many times they will field a coo-coo candidate to run against the incumbent in the Republican primary, and when their candidate loses (big-time!), they then run him in the general election as a Constitution Party candidate. It is insanity. Except for all the donation money taken in, and spent with consultants, caging companies, mailing list companies, etc., in which they have an interest.
There is an interesting Senate race in Utah. The incumbent cleaned the "real conservative's" clock. Keep an eye out for a Constitution Party candidate entering that race. Har.
To: Rex Anderson
Speaking of which, I've heard that Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Munutemen, is going to run as the Constitution Party's candidate in 2008. This is a guy who says that Bush should be impeached because of the borders. Talk about doing something that will kill your movement...

Talk about doing something that will kill your movement...... and bring in$$$$!
Did you know that Alan Keyes, back in the '90's, running for Senate, paid himself an $8,000 per month salary out of campaign donations? LOL
Of course, he lost the election.

When we are apathetic, we may deserve what we get for our laziness.I'm far from lazy. I am, however, apathetic.
Don't thank me; thank the Republicans.
If only they had charged up their base by behaving like Republicans.......

I would add one thing. President Nancy Pelosi - as Speaker, she would be third in line for the President. We have a movie out showing the President being assasinated. The VP has a heart problem.
I want BOTH of them to live long and healthy lives. BUT, if something were to happen, (if the dims take over, they make it more likely) do you really want her in that position?

Morning Laz ;-)
Remember, "no action, is in deed, an action".
I don't know who said it, but it works for me. ;-)
Do what you will, but we aren't sure who that nominee is going to be, as of yet.
Also whoever they choose, might just be the ticket to fire up all the folks that have gotten a bit lackluster during the last couple of years.
I pray that is the case.
Laz, these are anxious times in our world.
Sometimes we are called just to participate.
;-)
God bless you and yours!
Sorry, I have to get ready for early church.
Be back later. ;-)

So what's the alternative....staying home and getting Nancy Pelosi as speaker, 3rd in line to the Pres., John Conyers, an avowed socialist and Charley Rangel ways and mean chairman. You think the GOP screwed up...just wait.
