Harris is indeed not a "beltway boy". Which is exactly why her campaign has been subverted and undermined by the Gop since November of last year, when Karl Rove himself stated "she can't win".

As we all know, that lie has been parroted endlessly by every sycophant since that time.

She will win the primary. The GOP machine be damned.

On the good news, all four have similar platforms.

Com'on, none of the rivals in the Republican primary have ANYTHING like the face and name recognition of our own Snow White, Katherine Harris. Devoid of almost all official support, her lead in the primary race is still substantial. The Florida Republican party was not serious in mounting opposition to her, else they would have concentrated on only permitting ONE primary opponent, which would have been a rallying point to end her run for the Senate.

But the Florida Republican party dithered around on this matter, and now they are faced with an uncertainty - do they back Katherine Harris enthusiastically after the primary, or do they just surrender any chance of taking this Senate seat? Katherine Harris has ALWAYS kept her eye on what she believes to be the objective of her run for the Senate - put Bill Nelson out of a job, and get him out of the US Senate. All her campaign is directed at countering Bill Nelson, not at her immediate rivals in the primary. I do not believe she has ever mentioned their names, nor has she said one derogatory thing in public about the support she has not gotten from other Republicans. She may be having conversations behind the scenes, which may or may not be rancorous in nature, but few of us are privy to any of them.

I believe in Katherine Harris. Anybody that could withstand the storm that fell upon her in 2000, when she was carrying out the duties of her office in full accordance with the law, has earned my undying admiration.

Thanks for the rundown.
As a matter of fact....Thank you for ALL you do on FR! ;-)

Katherine Harris speaks from her heart. And is solidly conservative. Albeit, not the normal in politics today.

That said..........if we still lived in Florida, I personally would campaign for her.
God bless her and her senate run. I hope she beats the ignorance out of the rest of the pack.

Katherine Harris has weathered a series of political storms, and personal attacks from both Democrats and Republicans. Without support form the White House, the RNC, or the Governor its a long shot whether she can beat SenNelson in the end, but one thing is for sure. She is one tough conservative woman.

A little off topic but I just put this upon the MI board:

Bush to headline Bouchard Senate fundraiser  (Michigan)

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Bush plans to travel to Michigan next week to raise money for Republican Senate candidate Mike Bouchard in his race against Sen. Debbie Stabenow, the White House said Friday.

Bush will visit Clarkston, Mich., next Friday for a luncheon fundraiser for Bouchard. The event will give the Oakland County sheriff a large infusion of campaign dollars. Similar events by the president have netted candidates about $1 million.

It's a quick million bucks!

Wasn't sure the national GOP was going to show up for this race.  I understand that in one poll Bouchard is within 4 points of StabUsAll.  Now that the primary is over, the race is rather clear.

The fact that Bouchard is actively seeking support from the President is a good thing to get the conservative base to turn out, it's so close in a state where victories are razor-thin.

Let's hope Harris can also pick up the same sort of momentum and the FL state party gets busy.  Any candidate who is afraid to associate one's self with the President is foolish, it will prove costly.

The GOP has stepped on it's proverbial crank not only with the Harris campaign but with DeLay as well. I wish them both well.

"Republicans are fed up with the runaway spending of Congress. They're fed up with the deficit. They're fed up with the scandals they read about every day, and they're fed up with catering to special interests," McBride said.

Typical, run of the mill talking points spoon-fed to McBride from some party hack who hit F12 somewhere in the GOP basement.

Tackle Florida property insurance crisis by charging an add-on to insurance rates to create a federal catastrophe fund.

So Monroe wants to tax me through higher insurance premiums for the privilege of allowing him to live in Florida? Would he agree to higher insurance rates for him to allow people in California affordable earthquake insurance?

The MSM hates Katherine Harris... so she must be doing something right. For someone they dismiss as a loser, they've been giving her an inordinate amount of attention. Its like they're afraid she's not going to go away. And I have this feeling that regardless of what happens in November, Harris will be around to give them continued heartburn.
