Thanks for the rundown.
As a matter of fact....Thank you for ALL you do on FR! ;-)
Katherine Harris speaks from her heart. And is solidly conservative. Albeit, not the normal in politics today.
That said..........if we still lived in Florida, I personally would campaign for her.
God bless her and her senate run. I hope she beats the ignorance out of the rest of the pack.

Katherine Harris has weathered a series of political storms, and personal attacks from both Democrats and Republicans. Without support form the White House, the RNC, or the Governor its a long shot whether she can beat SenNelson in the end, but one thing is for sure. She is one tough conservative woman.

A little off topic but I just put this upon the MI board:
Bush to headline Bouchard Senate fundraiser (Michigan)
WASHINGTON (AP) President Bush plans to travel to Michigan next week to raise money for Republican Senate candidate Mike Bouchard in his race against Sen. Debbie Stabenow, the White House said Friday.
Bush will visit Clarkston, Mich., next Friday for a luncheon fundraiser for Bouchard. The event will give the Oakland County sheriff a large infusion of campaign dollars. Similar events by the president have netted candidates about $1 million.
It's a quick million bucks!
Wasn't sure the national GOP was going to show up for this race. I understand that in one poll Bouchard is within 4 points of StabUsAll. Now that the primary is over, the race is rather clear.
The fact that Bouchard is actively seeking support from the President is a good thing to get the conservative base to turn out, it's so close in a state where victories are razor-thin.
Let's hope Harris can also pick up the same sort of momentum and the FL state party gets busy. Any candidate who is afraid to associate one's self with the President is foolish, it will prove costly.

The GOP has stepped on it's proverbial crank not only with the Harris campaign but with DeLay as well. I wish them both well.

We are looking forward to seeing who in The Administration and RNC gets behind her after Harris wins the primary. Every bit of support will help in the general election.

I believe in Katherine Harris. Anybody that could withstand the storm that fell upon her in 2000, when she was carrying out the duties of her office in full accordance with the law, has earned my undying admiration. Ditto.

Yup, me too. It's too bad she'll be jobless soon.
Her ambition has made Nelson the safest incumbent in the nation, and has removed her from elected office altogether.
Now, for all of her fame as the Conservative angel from Florida, she is about to become another fellow citizen with no votes in the House or Senate.
Take heart, though. I still think she declares herself running for President by next April.....if she can wait that long.
But hey, at least she'll file early, which as the Katherine Harris backers keep telling us, is the single biggest qualification to be an acceptable candidate.
As much as I like her, I really hope Bill McBride has an upset up his sleeve.
Of course, I could take the Harris backers' position and declare that he'll obviously win the primary, because all the polls lie.

What makes you think she'll win the primary?Five reasons, in no particular order:
A. Because Katherine Harris is the best conservative candidate;
B. Because Harris will get the most votes;
C. Because we know a whole lot more about Florida politics than you do;
D. Because she knows how much it will irritate you; and
E. Because we vote in Florida, and you don't.
Feel the love

---"Are you planning to continue posting this propaganda Wednesday September 6?"---
Come Wednesday September 6th, I will be pulling for - and praying for - whoever wins the primary, period. Nelson is so out there left that ANY of the GOP candidates would be a marked improvement over him - even a RINO. Yup, he really is THAT bad.
But I do not rule out her running for President in 2008. I do not say that as facetiousness; I say that in all seriousness. She has insatiable ambition, which isn't in-and-of itself always a bad thing; but she lacks the tact and wisdom to channel it correctly. She also lacks patience.
Look, you don't know me from a hill of beans, and I know you don't think much of any of the staff who once put their heart and soul into the Harris campaign but are no more on board with her. But there is more than just speculation behind what I say when I talk about 2008. There was a lot more than mere whispers about such a run; there was a lot of quiet murmuring that winning a Senate seat in Florida would prove her electability for national-type offices.
As I said, you don't know me from a hill of beans. So take it with a grain of salt. But let me tell you there are at least a few people out there who worked their BUTTS off for her only to take the fall for her basic campaign mistakes. And there is more than just one person out there who saw how little control she had over her ambitions.
No, NautiNurse, I truly believe Katherine Harris has an eye for the Presidential office. That's no joke, and no smear. Do me a favor at the next rally. Ask her if she's ever considered running for President "someday." See if you can get her to say "no."
That being said, and my hopes for a McBride upset, it looks like she'll be the candidate for Florida. So I'll learn to deal with it. She'll get the vote of everyone I know in Florida, just as any GOP candidate would against Nelson.
But it's your turn to answer my theoretical: If Katherine Harris loses by the 30% or more than it looks like she's going to lose by, will you promise to:
A.) Finally accept that it wasn't a grand conspiracy of lies exaggerating her lack of support.
B.) Admit that she is no longer a viable statewide or national candidate.
C.) Renounce any future David-and-Goliath candidates. By this I mean in cases like this one, where backing a different primary candidate would have been the better part of valor. Not to renounce backing a Republican vs. a Democrat in an established race whatever the chances - just to renounce cases like this one.
Because as much as you don't want to believe it now, she does have higher office ambitions beyond the Senate, she IS going to get decimated against Nelson, and it WOULD have been possible to perhaps win this seat with another candidate.
And that has nothing to do with what I want or don't want, or what you believe is propoganda or is not propoganda. But time will play that one out......

Harris is likely to win the GOP primary and will then be soundly defeated by Bill Nelson. The criticisms of Harris's behavior by GOP officials and former staffers are well founded, unfortunately. Those criticisms have come in a torrent not just from party officials, but from staffers and consultants that she picked and hired but then alienated.
Most of the staff types are sensible, reliable people, hard Right in their politics and genuinely dedicated to the GOP. Their various breaks with Harris commonly came due to duplicity and aberrant, abusive conduct by her, not as part of a grand conspiracy to do wonderful little Katherine in, as she seems to see it.
We all know people who are superficially appealing, but who, on close acquaintance, prove to be false or peculiar in their conduct. Harris is of that type and is a misfortune for the GOP and conservatives. I truly wish it were otherwise, but in politics as in most everything else, there is nothing to be gained by denying the faults of leaders.
To: NautiNurse
In the FL 13th Congressional District 2002 and 2004 races, Republicans accounted for 48% and 46% of FL District 13 voters, respectively. Katherine Harris won each election with 55% of the vote.
In 2004 the registered democrats in CD13 was something like 32%... Do you know how President Bush faired in CD13 in 2004?

Hmmmm...where to begin...
First--you had better provide references to back up your assertion:
I know you don't think much of any of the staff who once put their heart and soul into the Harris campaign but are no more on board with her.
Second--your red herring bait doesn't catch fish around here. Just as boys dream of being professional athletes, and girls imagine marrying a prince, virtually every U.S. citizen has imagined the possibility of becoming President of the United States at one time or another. For goodness sakes, my own Dad told me I could do anything I set my mind to do--and I'll bet Katherine Harris' father told her the same thing. Your canard is farcical.
For you to start this latest rumor stunt against Harris on the eve of the primary is preposterous, as you feebly attempt to distinguish between "quiet murmuring" and "quiet whispers."
Lastly--My question to you about continuing your propaganda after September 5 was not a hypothetical query.
