The left doesn't want law-abiding citizens to have guns because:
1. most crime is committed by the beloved of the left, the "oppressed".
2. the left wants the "oppressed" to take money and posessions from the "oppressors".
3. therefore the left wants to ban guns, knowing full well that law-abiding citizens would obey the law and the "oppressed" would not.

4. The left knows that is only a matter of time before citizen owned firearms are turned upon the left. But being the left they continue to behave in a way that guarantees that outcome.

Most patriotic citizens that are normally law-abiding would not obey a law that banned guns. In fact banning guns nationwide would most probably cause a revolution...as it should.
