"Cites intelligence reports on terror modules
Portrays alarming scenario
Suicide bombing feared
Attacks on economic and religious targets not ruled out"
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "NEW DELHI: Justifying the concern about the increasing activities of externally-inspired and directed terrorist outfits in the country, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday said intelligence agencies had warned of a further intensification of violent terror activities with the possibility of more "fidayeen" (suicide) attacks.
Portraying an alarming scenario of the possible terrorist activities, he said that use of suicide bombers; attacks on economic and religious targets and targeting of vital installations, including nuclear establishments and Army camps, were very much on the agenda of terrorist outfits.
Presiding over a crucial day-long meeting of the Chief Ministers on Internal Security, the Prime Minister said that intelligence reports also suggested that terrorist modules and "sleeper cells" existed in some of the urban areas, all of which highlighted the seriousness of the threat."
