Thanks Cindy, I didn't have time this morning to do that right with links etc. Just wanted to get it on here....

JMO of course, but the hygiene of the folks working on these farms is not the greatest.

They are going to have to get a handle on it otherwise the produce farmers are going to go broke. I certainly will not buy bagged lettuce etc.......We may have to start our victory gardens again.

I agree with you 100%.

Also now, when something doesn't taste right to me (especially fresh produce); I just toss it. The frugal person in me doesn't like that; but the health conscious side, does.

No problem with the links...just wanted to post them there, especially a Google one I picked up for update.

I've seen some of the lettuce in the stores and it's pretty decrepit looking at its sales point in the stores. People come along and handle each head looking for "just the right one." By the time we get it home, it's hard to tell exactly what could be lurking on or in it. Ditto much of the other available produce.

Some fruits and veggies are shipped from South American countries that use sprays outlawed here and which have "iffy" sanitation practices compared to our own. A few years back raw alfalfa and clover sprouts were touted to carry e-coli and salmonella
