"You're not a conservative. You're a political ignoramus."

Yes...I'm so politically ignorant that I was elected for 2 terms in the New Hampshire State House. I've served a mayor in two towns (one in New Hampshire and one in Texas). I've been elected to school boards and numerous committes.

Appears you're the one that is politically ignorant. Compromise your values and ethics for the sake of a political party and you become a part of the problem.

I find it more appealing to be a "minority" than a "compromised party whore".

Wow...very descriptive, a new one I had not been called before. A compromised party whore...hmmm, not so bad, think I like that better than being called a pigheaded, Islam-at-the-end-of-the-barrel-of-a-gun-convertee, purity-of-party-at-all-costs, bitch & moan-loser.

Yeah, definitely like that better...and with my compromising, whoring party vote, hopefully I get to keep my head.

I've noticed that the little ex-bow tie wearing twirp has changed radically since 2000. What few viewers he has will now dissipate even more.

"Voting for a third party is like putting dollar bills in a wood-burning stove. It will make you warm for a little bit, but after that, it is all downhill."

Excellent analogy, "Felon." My thoughts exactly.

Never trust a guy that wears a bow tie.

My Dad taught me that when I was a little boy, and I always heeded that advice.

Well said. I am against some of the things Bush has done on principle, but have been mystified by the fierce opposition to No Child Left Behind. If he'd spent the same amount on farm subsidies to FReepers' home states, no one would have ever mentioned a word of it.

Although I believe you're correct re: Israel when talking about the past, in the last decade or so, many who would otherwise have a kneejerk anti-Israel response have come to see it is a bulwark against Islamofascism in the Middle East. It's a roundabout way of cutting through what might have been anti-Semetic bigotry, and I think it's all good. All it took was a little careful thought--If Israel fails who will benefit from that?--for folks to realize Israel's fate SHOULD concern them.

My support for President Bush waivers only when he gets too cozy with Ted Kennedy, John McCain or our undocumented "visitors" from outside the borders!

My support NEVER waivers for our troops and their(our) efforts in Iraq and elswhere! I know they don't deserve what evil they are receiving now, from enemies within or elsewhere. As long as we have a patriotic administration in office, they will be supported.

The war against these poor sick bastages who think taking a perpetual sand nap with 72 imaginary virgins is better than respecting the women who are their mothers, sisters and prospective wives is one that must be won. In order to win that fight we must insure that we have the people in power who will have the fortitude and moral convictions to fight that long term fight.

You know and I know that President Bush has what it takes to fight that fight. What concerns me is the lack of spine exhibited by some Republicans in the House and in the Senate. It's a given that very few Dems have shown the ability to do anything but slither around as if looking for shade.

You must admit the lack of fiscal responsibitilty regarding spending by President Bush and the currrent Congressional leadership. The collection side has been superb, but they cut the bottom out of the purse!

If you will grant me the above notions, for the point of discussion, I will offer the following for consideration:

Assume the Dems win majority by a few votes in both houses.

1. The Republican "control" of both houses is largely a myth! Many conservative proposals have been passed by the Congress only to be stalled by procedural tactics in the Senate - too often met with quiet acquiesence by inept or inadequate Republican "leadership". Even when it matters - witness the "Gang of Fourteen" in the Judicial appointments.

2. The likelihood of a veto-proof Democrat majority is slim to nonexistant. If the Dems win majority and try to do anything ridiculous, "W." whips out the veto pen. They will be so enraged, as will their myrmidons in the MSM, the already cacophonous level will reach such a crescendo over the next two years that the voters will not only forever regard the Democrat party in the same vein as the Whigs, you'll have to go to a local access cable channel to see Katie, Bryan, or Charlie G.

3. Conyers, et al, will launch their investigations and possible impeachment proceedings against the President during a time of war. Any claim by them to nonpartisanship, fairness, and patriotism will forever be forfeited. End result - see #2.

I don't relish the idea of another two years of constant turmoil. Realistically, if we win, and even gain seats, there will be turmoil and constant caterwauling by the leftist Dems and the MSM. My thoughts are that with W. in charge, this may me the last good chance to put the final nail in the coffin of the (dis)organized (dys)functional democrat party.

The "99 44/100 % pure conservatives" don't seem to understand that a philosophy without any voice in the government is a useless philosophy. If you're not in the game, D or R, you might as well be a Libertarian--and please tell me when the Libertarian party had a hand in shaping our government? Answer: Never, but the Libertarians get to sit on the sidelines and yell at the Republicans (and Democrats) as they played the game and took the hits, "Haha, *I* won't soil by principles and actually risk getting dirty!"

Which is why no one takes the Libertarian Party seriously, and no one will take the Perfect Conservatives Only voters seriously, either.

DW,

"The "99 44/100 % pure conservatives" don't seem to understand that a philosophy without any voice in the government is a useless philosophy."

My point is that we WILL still have a voice in the government, at least for the next two years. If we lose this mid-term, all is not lost! In fact, it may be to our advantage. The left will be emboldended beyond their ability and make even more outrageous charges and missteps with their water bearers in the MSM in lockstep.

My point, if we take a minor tactical hit we will win the strategical victory!

If we lose this mid-term, all is not lost! In fact, it may be to our advantage.

That's absolutely insane thinking--insane. Letting the DUmmies into power now will mean two years of our President under impeachment at home, our troops under even MORE threat with a newly-emboldened terrorist horde regrouping since they know having Dems in power will hamstring the sitting Administration, and our economy will crash when the rest of the world sees us as a nation of bickering idiots who would rather engage in blood sport than create a united front against terrorism.

This tactical gam playing will wound our nation--I couldn't give a crap about the conservative cause if it so casually throws our troops to the wolves for political gain, rather than sucking it up and doing what MUST be done to stay the course.

The "99 44/100% Pure Conservatives" will be despised by the conservatives who are more concerned with our nation than in some bizarre calculation that "If we don't vote R in 2006, all of these other things will just naturally fall into place, and we will win in 08!" When have these "stategies" EVER worked out as planned? The last time the conservatives sent a message we got 8 years of Clinton and Al Qaeda. Gee, thanks!

These strategies don't work because the rest of the country isn't a bunch of robots who will vote as you need them to to get what you want. Voting to support the Democrats (which is the exact same thing as voting against RINOs) is putting a bullet in the back of the head of our military. Count me out of that suicidal move based on political game playing. If that makes me a RINO, I can live with being called that by the people who would put us right where they put us in 1992.

{{{Applause,Applause}}} You nailed it, Darkwolf!

Hey, there's harsher names you could be called other than RINO.

I was called a "compromising party whore" this afternoon on this very thread...I told that idiot that I would proudly wear that name if it means the Republicans stay in control.

Protecting our country against the lunatic terrorists and supporting those brave men and women who are sacrificing their all to keep that from happening again here, is what is important...there is an enormous chasm between that and all the other issues, as far as I am concerned.

RINO COMPROMISING PARTY WHORE...whatever, I will gladly wear any title they want to hang on me as long as my vote goes to keep this country and our troops as safe as possible.

Ditto that, Darkwolf. I'd pretty much given up even reading the posts on threads and decided today to read a few; the left must be laughing hysterically at the dissent the "pure" conservatives are stirring up around here.

And the conspiracy theories that freepers believe...I feel like I'm reading DU lately.
