I have been "boycotting" American beers precisely for the same reason, flavor and quality. Three years in Germany (Air Force} is all it takes. Becks, Warsteiner and an occasional Bitburger make me a happy camper....

For me, living in England and tasting real ale was enough to do it. Americans are used to vaguely alcoholic soda pop, it seems.
