In a taped video statement he says, "I am not willing to kill or be killed for something I don't believe in. My morals said going to Iraq was not the right thing to do. I was not going to live a life of violence." "That's why I thought the best thing to do was join the Army," he added.

Dealing with cowards like Private Wilkerson is easy.
All you need is a rope, a tree, and a placard to hang around his neck advising others that Wilkerson declined to defend American women and children.
Its about as open and shut of a case of cowardice that I've seen.

Yes, cowardice and treason tend to not be high on my list of traits.

"Not so sure about Washington."
Well maybe he would have shot them. He did shoot desserters. There was a whole group of them, can't remember the battle, he made them draw lots. He had the ones that drew the short straws shot, and really didn't have much of a problem after that.

If I were a Klingon, I'd disembowel him where he stood for dishonoring the Way Of The Warrior.
Nah, disrupter shot to the forehead. Don't disgrace your Batleth with the blood of a coward.

Not so sure about Washington. Washington crushed an incipient mutiny by executing the three ring leaders by firing squad. The firing squad was made up of the "go along" mutineers. No need to shoot all the troops involved, excellent object lesson.

He did indeed however after sentencing eight men to hang for mutiny and other offenses he ended up only hanging one. This occurred at the last moment with all eight standing in nooses.

(That's right, I have no proof. So what of it??)

He just wanted the freebies.Of course. But he was just responding to the advertisements which promise the freebies and never mention the messy stuff. Maybe every recruitment ad should have a fast talking lawyer reading a disclaimer listing the "side effects"!

Maybe every recruitment ad should have a fast talking lawyer reading a disclaimer listing the "side effects"! Recently I read a brand new book about Marine Drill Instructors (sorry cannot currently recall the title). They each talk about thei times in the Marines, and becoming Drill Instructors, etc. In the book were some famous DI's. (Yes, including Ermy of Full Metal Jacket). One of the Drill Instructors was a famous face on a popular recruiting poster back during the Vietnam War. It has him looking up angrilly at a slovenly new recruit taller than him and the caption beneath the photo was: "We Never Promised You A Rose Garden". :-)

He's a slicky. I want $50,000 for college, yea give me a $10,000 sign on bonus and then pay me my salary and give me all those benefits..... what? I should go to war? No way. That's the thinking of some of these 'moral' people who suddenly see it wrong to fight for their country.</p>

I know a few of these characters. One of them is a 1st generation Polish immigrant (approx 10yrs younger than me) He was in the Marines and now he is a regular encyclopedia of Soros talking points
For him, a powerful political statement is attending a Motley Crue concert and cheering when they put up a graphic containing Hitler=Bush=OBL /sarc> no really!!

The face of a coward
Even more that is the face of young and stupid.
He will never shake it off, but hopefully he may rise above it at some time in his life.
