Are you talking about you???? My nightmare happened in front of the apartment I was living in LA in the late 1970's. It was horrible. They wanted my wallet, but I couldn't move. So they grabbed my entire handbagg (which I had just bought!). I was young, 20 years old, but I never thought I would just freeze. I was with a male cousin, who was a bit older, and he had the wherewithall to put his wallet down his pants! To this day, I still don't know how he did it!
I was about 23 when mine happened. I was on my way home from work - late shift at the AP in Rockefeller Center. I was headed for the subway when a tall "urbanite" fell into step next to me. He tried to make conversation, but I had a real bad feeling about it, so I picked up the pace. Some more of his buddies joined him, and before I knew it, I was surrounded by about 5 or 6 of them, all bigger than me.
I guess I showed a little too much concern, because the first guy said, "C'mon, man, we don't want to take your life... just your money."
I had absolutely nothing to say to that. I think my mouth just kept moving up and down, because at some point the lead got frustrated, threw his hands up, and said, "Aw, man, jus' git outta here!", and they left.
Not my greatest moment, but I got out of it alive and with my just-cashed paycheck still in my pocket.
Thanks, but the strange thing is that I'm not even Christian. The Bible is an excellent book though.
