End of An Affair
The Washington Post via Drudge ^ | September 1, 2006 | Washington Post Editorial Staff

Posted on 09/01/2006 7:59:09 AM PDT by srmorton

WE'RE RELUCTANT to return to the subject of former CIA employee Valerie Plame because of our oft-stated belief that far too much attention and debate in Washington has been devoted to her story and that of her husband, former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, over the past three years. But all those who have opined on this affair ought to take note of the not-so-surprising disclosure that the primary source of the newspaper column in which Ms. Plame's cover as an agent was purportedly blown in 2003 was former deputy secretary of state Richard L. Armitage.

...the Posts website has referenced Plame in over 3,000 articles over the past 3 years, so I guess this "one" article will make up for that.

Yeah, the Post was in a position to know the real story, but felt constrained by the fact that Bob Woodward knew the identity of the original leaker. Instead of combating what they knew were falsehoods printed by their competitors in the MSM, they sat silent (for the most part). It seems to me they were rooting for the 'Lie' to win the Day. Hardly a jounalistic triumph on their part. An what's this bit about being "reluctant" to print a story that puts to bed once-and-for-all a 3-year national controversy? Very noble of them. /sarcasm off

The MSM, the Lefties, Joe Wilson & Valerie Plame owe GWB, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby, Dick Cheney, the GOP, Americans & America an APOLOGY!

But there won't be one!

And Fitzgerald owes American taxpayers HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for "investigating" a hoax that any beat cop in America could have determined in a day.

Valerie Plame WAS NOT A COVERT CIA AGENT at the time of the "outing!"

"Ms. Plame's identity was classified information"

The Wash Compost still has it WRONG!

Plame at the time of the "outing" was a CIA desk jockey,
nothing more!

Ya can't go around with a husband bragging that you work at CIA, in a car with a CIA parking decal on the windshield of your car, wearing a CIA ID on your chest and expect people to think you are "OO7!" LMAO

When Colon Powell was first entering the arena of politics,I had a lot of faith in him.As time went on however,it was plain to see how naive I was about the man.The latest revelations made me know just how wrong I was.CYA in Govt.at it's worst. But most politicians need a fall guy.To bad it took so long and so much money to get to the bottom of it all.And I mean bottom.

Yea, well the world and politics are dirty business.
But before we're done, we're gonna have to do what should have been done on 9/12/2001.
Secure the ports and borders, deport all foreign muslims and illegals and intern American muslims. I know those are drastic measures. But we are living in drastic times with enemies & fanatics who will hesitate at nothing including sacrificing themselves to wipe us off the planet at any cost!
Either we are at war or we aren't!
And the muzzies won't be happy 'til we give them the war they want.
But this time, we'll finish the job.

Semper Fi,
Kelly

MCBuff,

I did not mean that it was really balanced in the sense that you or I would consider an article to be balanced. I just meant that since the Post was one of the main supporters of Wilson, I was amazed to find an article that admits that Wilson did anything wrong at all.

"Not a very honorable thing for Powell, a former military man, to have done...."

I agree, Armitage too. It is outrageous the affair went on so long.

It won't happen till the powers that be gets it.I honestly believe it will take some very bad,and serious stuff, to happen before measures are taken to secure our safety.I wish I could argue some of your points, but, reality is what it is.We can see what PC is doing to our country, and it seems to be getting worse by the day.Someone needs to take charge and do what needs to be done.No matter how ugly it is.Or else.I hope it does not get to the point where average citizens have to take care of the problems in their midst. It could get real ugly.Regards.

balanced? after 3 years of trashing Bush/Cheney/Rove/Libby? They should be groveling. Balance should have been in 2003.

I have a bad feeling that the next 9/11,will be very bad.It may make the first one look like a walk in the park.I pray I am wrong, but living in West Texas,I know there is NOTHING that can not be brought into this country.[If it is not already here].If something bad does happen,Americans won't be demanding anything. They will be doing what needs to be done.I would not want to be a politician during something like that!Have a great Labor Day weekend.Mark
