I don't have children of my own, although I have godchildren and I have taught middle school. But for the life of me, I cannot understand why every parent in this country isn't camped out on the steps of their State capital demanding that legislators pass laws to better protect children against sexual predators -- and refuse to go home until they do! This "catch & release" program for sexual predators is absolute nonsense.

As for children who are predators-in-training -- that is a lack of parental supervision and interest. Something is going on in their own home that isn't right. It isn't TV & movies per se that is the problem -- it is a lack of supervision of what TV the children watch and what movies parents let them see. All too often, parents use TV, movies and the internet as "a babysitter" for their children.

There is far too large a generation of feral (wild) children today -- children who basically are raising themselves because their parents ignore all but their physical needs --so the kid never learns how to positively relate and have empathy for others, because everyone in the family is just "out for themselves". Many parents pay less attention to their kids than I do to my dogs!

I also work in Public Education as a School Psychologist. I know of cases where it isn't only that the parents are allowing their children to watch adult level entertainment, but that they don't shield their children from their own activity. Of course, then their are those adults who use children for their own stimulatory needs.

A case was recently brought to my attention of a mother of a middle school boy who kicked her son out because he was "causing" problems between her and her live-in boyfriend. The boyfriend was mentally and physically abusing the boy. When he complained the mother got rid of the "problem". Some people have their heads screwed on in an awkward position.
