I am proudly endorsing Tom Gallagher for Governor of Florida. In a day when moral standards are up for grabs, Tom will be a champion for the family. He will work to provide genuine school choice for every Florida child, and he understands that the courts must be reigned in.

Dr. James Dobson National Conservative Leader

This is how delusional some of these people are:

A month or so I was on a thread and one of them started to scream that I was stalking them. Now, mind you, I started posting on that thread before they did.

But you see, the facts don't matter to them. It's all about E-M-O-T-I-O-N.

Team Crist must be pretty desperate trashing Gallagher supporters on the boards. Sounds so much like another Crist commercial.

Let's just talk issues.

Q
Is Charlie Crist for or against gay adoptions?

A
Is today Wednesday or Thursday?

Q
Is Charlie Crist for civil unions?

A
Yes, condescendingly so. "I have a live and let live attitude (except for incapacitated people whose "husbands" sue for money for "therapy" for 7 years only to "remember" that his wife had a death wish right after receiving the award - for those people Crist's "let live" attitude wears thin).

Q
Is Charlie Crist for reckless spending?

A
Where do we begin on that one? When Gallagher was out there fighting all recent huge spending measures Charlie had yet to raise a finger. Now he supports them and attacks Gallagher for wanting to give voters a second chance to make an informed decision now that they haven't been lied to by special interests for some time now.

Q
Is Charlie Crist an all around egomanic and liar?

A
What two words does Charlie Crist say most, even when he's lying? Of course, it's "Charlie Crist" - "I'm Charlie Crist" "You can trust Charlie Crist" and let's not forget "I'm Chaingang Charlie." A real wholesome guy.

Charlie Crist should be working for John Kerry, whose stance on abortion he mimicked except that Kerry was honest enough to say that he's pro-choice. He shouldn't be running for the REPUBLICAN nomination.

I'm not sure about delusional, but this all started with the Terri Schiavo situation. The same voices from those interminable threads seem to have taken up the cause of Florida State politics.

The oddest thing I've seen is in the Katherine Harris threads, where the same group is dominant. When I have questioned the rationale of supporting Harris, who cannot possibly win in the general election, I've been accused of being an out-of-state rabble rouser.

Oddly enough, the poster who accuses folks of that is, himself, from a state bordering mine...way up in the northern midwest. I still can't figure that one out.

There is a definite shortage of facts in these threads. Terri Schiavo died. The process was long and ugly. But, it went through the legal process, and through even the Florida Supreme Court. Yet, we're still hearing accusations of MURDER against various Florida state officials. Some of these posters even hate Jeb Bush over the Schiavo affair, and I believe I've even seen Floriduh Voter blame President Bush for not somehow rescuing Terri.

It's the wierdest set of threads I've ever encountered here. The Terri threads are among the very longest threads ever recorded here, yet they continue, month after month, some four years later.

Very strange.

I see that you are an atheist. What interest would you have in a thread about Dr. Dobson, Focus on the Family?

I am a suspicious sort (I am a former cop).

This behavior has made Free Republic look nuttier and nuttier. The Democrats couldn't have asked for anything more in the wake of 2000 and 2004.

Perhaps this is a combination of (a) true-believing "useful idiots" and (b) the sort of folks who find idiots useful.

I'm coming late to this but here are some recent Charlie lies.

- lied on his stance on abortion "I'm pro-life," "I'm pro-life," "I'll say it again I'm pro-life" but.... "I do not support a 24 hr waiting period" and.... "I would not support the changing of the law should Roe v Wade be overturned"

- lied on never supporting a tax increase

- seeks to hide his previous comments in support of gay adoptions

- calls himself a Ronald Reagan conservative while not only advocating "civil" unions in the same breath, but also insinuating that anyone who opposes them is clozzzed minddded and duhzint have a livvve and let livvve attttitude (sic)

- hyped allegations against Tom to a ridiculous extent

- sought to hide his position on amnesty

- constantly runs away from the very positions he advocates

"I'm Charlie Crist." "You can trust Charlie Crist (to be a turd)."

It doesn't matter if you're pro-life or pro-choice on this one. Charlie Crist is a repugnant liar.

You know, most of the posters here are not pro-Crist at all. Most of us are not even in Florida. What we're discussing is not the actual election, but the very odd behavior of some of the posters who are anti-Crist. We keep seeing links to a very strange site that even has the name anticrist.

It's not Crist. It's not Gallagher. Its the very, very bizarre way the opposition to Crist is framed. If ever someone wanted to alienate voters against thier own candidate, it would be done just as in this thread.

Were I a Florida (not duh) voter, and came across this rabid, paranoid campaign activity, I would find out who these people were and vote against any candidate they supported.

If ever there were supporters of a candidate who spoil that candidate's chances, it would be this group on Free Republic. Fortunately for Gallagher, I'm assuming this is the only place they have a voice.

The same group is posting similar stuff regarding Katherine Harris and her opponents. Harris may win the primary, but her antics and those of her supporters will surely cost her the general election.

Sometimes, it's better for your candidate just to keep quiet.

Goodness, me! I've had that in my tagline for years now. But I'll be glad to answer you. I have no interest in James Dobson, per se, as long as he's talking about religion. When he dips his pudgy fingers into political issues, then he transcends religion and gets into stuff that affects more than religion. That's when my interest is piqued.

Thanks for asking, floriduh.

So let's drop Terri - even though you must understand that legally sanctioned murder of an innocent, albeit a helpless innocent, based on the testimony of a husband who sang a different story until the very day he got the money is appalling. But let's drop it.

Let's talk about Crist's lies, attacks, maligning, position changes every second Tues. and overall extreme liberal record. To begin please see my last 2 posts.

He sounds like every politician I have ever heard then. Like other politicians, he wants it both ways. I'm sure I could come up with a similar list for Gallagher. It's politics. Surely you don't believe that politicians always say exactly what they believe?

I hear you. But in fairness, over here in Florida we're treated to a diluge of commercials that attack Gallagher for things he supposedly said (taken completely out of context, of course) in 1994, allegations magnifide to make a minor mishap look like the attack of the clones and all this from someone who's almost definately the most liberal person to ever run for the GOP statewide, yet who yells "I'm a Reagan Republican."

That's basically the reason for the frustration. But ya, let's stay with the issues. Agreed.

Have you noticed that instead of backing up the delusional posts they make they just try another whole tack? Sort of like what's going on right now. Sounds just like a Democratic tactic to me.

Jim Robinson wrote the foreward for a book called Hillary's Secret War. During the 90's, Jim was able to trace where posters were posting from and we had lots of people from The Washington Post and the Clinton White House.

Leftists come here and pretend to be these PERFECT conservatives (you know, the kind of person who doesn't exist in the real world) and then they stir dissent on the boards.

We see a fair amount of that on these threads in particular.

Good idea. Are you suggesting that Gallagher is not attacking Crist as well? That seems dubious to me. As for taking things out of context, well that's a universal practice in campaigns, I think.

• Charlie Crist is pro-life.
• As Attorney General, Charlie Crist successfully defended the rights of parents to know
when their daughters are seeking an abortion.
• As a Senator, Charlie Crist voted to ban partial-birth abortions and voted to override
Governor Chiles’ veto of that ban.
• As Governor, Charlie Crist will seek to promote a culture of life by promoting adoption
and seeking state funding for programs that offer alternatives to abortion.
• Charlie Crist’s opponent ran as a pro-choice advocate when he challenged Governor
Bush in 1994, attacking Governor Bush for his pro-life beliefs.

Charlie Crist is Against Gay Marriage.
• Charlie Crist believes that marriage is an institution between one man and one woman.
• As Attorney General, Charlie Crist successfully defended Florida’s definition of marriage
as an institution between one man and one woman.
• As Governor, Charlie Crist will support a constitutional amendment that honors marriage
as an institution between one man and one woman.
• Charlie Crist agrees with President Bush that private individuals may enter contractual
relationships with each other; however he does not support the state extending marital
benefits to same-sex couples.

Charlie Crist is Against Amnesty & Will Secure Our Borders.
• Charlie Crist is against amnesty. He does not believe that we should reward people for
illegal behavior.
• First and foremost, Charlie Crist believes we must secure our borders. There are ways to
enter this country legally, and Charlie Crist will work to preserve legal immigration.
• Charlie Crist believes that all immigrants should be properly documented, employed or
attaining an education, paying taxes, learning English, and obeying the laws.
• As Governor, Charlie Crist will work to make sure Florida’s law enforcement officers have
adequate resources, funding, and clear authority to assist Homeland Security in keeping
terrorists and criminals out of our country.
• Charlie Crist was named one of three Honorary Sheriffs in the history of Florida because
of his strong stand against crime and his commitment to public safety.
• Charlie Crist will work hard to make sure that Florida is equipped to stop illegal
immigration and will work with Washington to establish firm and comprehensive
immigration policy.

Charlie Crist Has Never Supported A Tax Increase.
• Charlie Crist opposed the constitutional mandate to reduce class size and supports
reasonable initiatives to make its implementation less costly.
• However, until the voters repeal or amend it, Charlie Crist is obligated as a public servant
to honor their vote.
• Governor Bush has already spent $7 billion to reduce class size. Charlie Crist will follow
his lead by using general revenue and the state’s bonding power to pay for the class size
amendment. He also will promote virtual classrooms, team-teaching strategies, dual
enrollment courses, charter schools and other innovative instructional techniques to
achieve smaller class sizes as mandated by Florida’s voters.
• Charlie Crist will not raise taxes to reduce class size.
• Charlie Crist’s opponent wants to ignore the voters’ choice and has no plan to implement
their constitutional mandate to reduce class size.
• Charlie Crist’s opponent has also proposed the largest tax increases in Florida history
and would have cost Florida’s hard-working taxpayers billions in new taxes.

Hmm...are you suggesting that some of the wierder posters in these Florida races may be agents provacateurs? That seems almost too far-fetched to believe.

Yet, I can think of no better way to put people off a candidate than to have nutty folks campaigning for them. Maybe you have something, there.

It's politics, but usually if you're pro-choice you say so or at least agree to differ to your base. This race, if looked at in terms of positions, is very similar to John Kerry's smearing Pres. Bush while calling himself the "really conservative candidate" (something that Al Gore did too - funny how every liberal wants to be called "conservative," an admission that something is wrong with their philosophy).

I don't expect much from politicians, but true conservatives have been elected in the past and are the only ones who keep their word (Pres. Reagan, the current Pres., his brother here). Based on their track record we shouldn't support someone who lies openly. We shouldn't be shocked. But we shouldn't lend him our support either.

That sure is a different Charlie Crist than I'm hearing about in these threads. At least it's different from what some posters are saying.

Are you saying the Charlie Crist didn't MURDER Terri Schiavo? That seems to be the main point of some posters.
