This typifies the handout mentality of a great number of the New Orleans refugees. They had it handed to them in NOLA and now they want it continued over a year after the storm in other places. The pig trough is closed. No more slop.

Go back to NOLA that beacon on a hill, that garden spot of the old south. That cesspool of crime before, during and after the storm. Get a job. One year later...get a job. Work and earn money for rent. Work three jobs.....the Mexicans who invaded this country have had the good sense to get more than one job, why can't the NOLA people.

And now available at a store near you.........................NOLA Bars..All Chocolate and Full of Nuts" copyright applied for.

I'd say "read the rest." ACORN is accusing FEMA of sending unintelligible notices that don't really explain what is wrong. I.e. FEMA is guilty of acting like the bureaucrats they are, I suppose....

so typical of the gimme, gimme, gimme mentality..no one can tell me that after a year, they can't find some type of work that will support them..

anyone want to make a bet on what type of employment they had before they left NOLA?? Your choices are:

1) ain't never had no job
2) almost got a job once but sobered up
3) dealin
4) what's a job?
5) the gubmint gives me my money

I thought it was particularly interesting in light of this thread:

The Shadow Party: FrontPage Interviews Co-Author Richard Poe

"--SNIP--"

Poe: The Shadow Party is always changing. New groups form and old ones dissolve. For instance, America Coming Together -- which raised $135 million for Democrat get-out-the-vote drives in 2004 – has been mothballed, at least for now. The most active Shadow Party groups today are probably the Center for American Progress, America Votes, Democracy Alliance, the New Democrat Network, the New Politics Institute, ACORN and, of course, MoveOn.org.

Somebody needs to explain to these folks that it's a safety net, not a hammock.

"FEMA found that more than 1,500 of those families did not suffer enough damage to qualify for the benefits...1,300 were living with someone who is already receiving assistance. Nearly 500 families provided an address for a damaged home that was not their primary residence...remaining 2,000 households that registered for benefits were disqualified for a number of other reasons, including not being able to demonstrate occupancy, not knowing whether their house was damaged,..."

So, because a hurricane hit, the country has to house them for free forever?

Just where is it guaranteed that anyone receive anything from FEMA? What percentage of our paycheck is mandatory to go to FEMA? Mine only lists Federal Income, Social Security and Medicare taxes. It's been way too long. FEMA can tell these assw*pes to !&^I%#@ off! Most of these people lives were ruined by themselves long before Katrina hit.

I read that article in the Statesman today and wanted to puke. The morning show on KLBJ had this as one of their topics and there were callers on both sides of the issue.

One lady called in who said she was legally blind and had no work or place to live after the government handouts are history.

Another caller called in and said she and her husband didn't know anything about the assistance program. He got a job after they moved here and they intend to stay in Texas.

I guess once you get on the government's nipple, it is hard to give up and never try to make an honest living.

And Democrats want to increase spending on welfare and entitlement programs if they win the house! These FEMA squatters are certain Democratic votes.

Here is a link to the Complaint filed by ACORN. Complaint In essence, the lawsuit alleges that FEMA is not following the law or its own regulations, and is misleading people regarding whether they are, or are not, eligible to receive benefits. If the factual allegations in the Complaint are true, I would agree that FEMA is liable.
