A lot of people will be watching Katie's debut -- I suspect it's nothing more than reaching the widest possible audience.

everyone is watching it to see how Katie handles herselfRight.
Watching Katie is on my "To-Do List."
It's third in line after "Mash nuts flat with a sledge hammer."

Actually, I think it is a brilliant move. Bush will reach many on the left who won't change, but he will also reach many moderates/independants who might be persuaded to support other republicans in '06.
I hope his administration gets some credit for keeping us safe from major attack for the last five years.

Bush does the interview because he knows everyone is watching it to see how Katie handles herself. So, you think that the President of the United States of America is primarily concerned about Katie Couric handles herself as a news anchor for SeeBS!?
Are you kidding me!!?
I think the point is ...
Bush does the interview because he knows everyone is watching it to see how Katie handles herself.

It's disgusting how these people will kiss up to dictators like Castro, Hussein, and Ahmadinejad and disrepect the President of the United States just because he's from the "opposition" party.
Their decidedly "objective" stance is thrown out the window when they talk with Republicans.
They (Jenneys and Wallace) said they would not notify US troops if they were with the enemy and got word of an impending ambush. "Journalists first, Americans second". They would report the carnage. Yet these are the same who will release US battle plans (warning the enemy).
They have a side. And it is the evil one.

Should FDR have granted an interview to Axis Sally (Mildred Gillars)?

Wasn't she crying during the election coverage when Gore lost? Probably hates GWB even more now than then. I don't understand why he'd give her an interview either. The sooner she sinks into oblivion the better. Even with all the hateful "questions" she will probably ask, the President will keep his cool and heap coals of fire on her head.

Some excerts from her interview just released: Mr. President, how many times have you read Mien Kaumf?
How did you feel when you finally got away with stealing the 2000 election?
We all know you went into the National Guard to dodge the draft because your a gutless coward, but don't you think John Kerry is more qualified to lead our nation since he fought in Vietnam for almost 3 months?
You hate blacks! Is that why you caused Kartina to happen?
The worlds gotten hotter since you've been President. Why do you want to kill everybody?
How long where you friends with the Bin Laudens before 9/11 and have you talked to Osama since?
Theres been no attacks since 9/11, yet we are being terrorised by your administration. Shouldn't we imprison you at Guantonamo?
You don't speak well. How retarded are you really?
Does Karl Rove have a remote control to move your lips or are you just a sick holagram?

Get a message out to who? SeeBS' audience?Well, who in tarnation is he supposed to talk too, those who already know him and know what he REALLY believes? How useless an interview would that be?
You have to think beyond your fixed scope. Do the DBM/dems suck? Yes, but there are some in that audience who are fence sitters and really don't know him for who he is, this will be a chance for them to see Bush, instead of what the liars in the DBM/dems tell and show veiwers who Bush is by their own bias drivel.
Sometimes, you have to play the game to get noticed!

No offense, dude, but c'mon. Whatever you're smokin' please pass it down the left hand side.
There are two camps in the country (well, you know what I mean). Boundaries clearly drawn. There are no in-betweens any longer. There won't be anyone out there in middle America saying to themselves "ya know, I had him all wrong all these years". It just ain't gonna happen. It'll be a pure reinforcement of current beliefs/feelings.
And, yes, I'm still holding SeeBS responsible for the ANG memos. That's why I insist they can go eff themselves til the cows come home.
Cheers!

I'm absolutely amazed at the lack of wisdom that resides out there. People need hope. Common decency is essentail in life and you sure as shinola will never get that from the DBM/dems, but Bush can deliver.

1st - Solution? Who said anything about that being a solution? It's an opinion based upon the facts I have available. And that's where the big difference between me being upset and the "kook left" being upset. Facts.
2nd - Am I wise? Wiseacre, maybe. Socrates said the only true wisdom is knowing you know nothing.
3rd - I have hope. Boy do I have hope. I keep hoping that people will give our President the support and respect he deserves. I also have a boatload of cynicism that tends to get the best of me after a while of seeing the same behavior repeated over and over and over again.
4th - Common decency is what you would hope to see from those with the power of the pen. I'm not expecting cheerleaders but I'm not expecting (scratch that... the cynic in me says I am) hit piece after hit piece coming from the likes of SeeBS, NBC, ABC, NYSlimes, Washington comPost, etc.
At this point it would be wise (uh-oh, there I go) for us to agree to disagree on how we approach the topic of our President doing an interview with Ms Couric.
Cheers!
